Iron Maiden - No Prayer for the Dying

No album that has Tailgunner, Fates Warning, The Assassin, Run Silent Run Deep, etc. etc. is a bad album. Honestly, I prefer this one to the slog that was the previous album. It may not be the best Maiden album but it certainly isn't bad.

Roger Waters' Amused To Death gets a lot of derision. It's by far my favorite RW album and my second favorite by Pink Floyd or any PF alumni.

Really? I've always considered these to be somewhat well-liked. Odd.

Interesting, something I need to explore, I like Cheap thrills so much better than the music with the studio hotshots. Imagine I would agree.

All Jimmie Spheeris albums, especially "Isle Of View" & "Ports of the Heart"- I notice it's tough to even keep a thread on Jimmie going here...

Kinks Preservation Act 2 - Act 1 seems to be getting some love, but Act 2 has a more cohesive story, more diverse music, and honestly, got me back into the Kinks. Schoolboys In Disgrace is an overlooked masterpiece. Yes, I said it, masterpiece.

I also have a soft spot for Wings Wild Life. It's loose, spontaneous, fun, and there are a some great tunes on there. Says the guy who thinks Band On The Run is one of the most overrated albums in McCartney's catalog. Given the choice of one or the other on that theoretical desert island, I'm choosing the Wild Life over living on the run.

I'm not sure where people stand on Townshend/Lane's Rough Mix, but it's a personal favorite.

Yup. Anything after "Physical Graffiti" could theoretically fit this thread - or "Song Remains the Same" - but the first 6 albums are far too beloved to be classified as "albums most people dislike"...

Yeah, I can see why it may've been viewed semi-negatively in 1970, but as you note, that's not the case now.

I admit it's one of my less-liked Led Zep albums, though, mainly because I really don't much like "non-rocking Zep". I love their "rock songs" but find myself much less enchanted by the rest...

I think you could argue "GHS" has gotten something of a reappraisal over the years, too - it seems much more loved now than it was decades ago.

As for me, I prefer "GHS" to "TSMR", but I can't claim to like either album. As I've reflected in other threads, I've tried many times over the decades to embrace "GHS" but it ain't happening - the album just seems half-baked and mediocre.

"TSMR" has a few really good songs but the bad ones undercut it severely...

I think there's some real crap on "Metamorphosis", but it has a few tracks I really like. The Stevie Wonder cover is worth the price of admission alone!

:righton: It's a decidedly unassuming album but it charms due to its lack of ambition. It's not a great album but it's more enjoyable than its reputation indicates...

 People don't like "Vitalogy"? You can make that claim for "No Code" and maybe any of the other post-1994 PJ albums - they all have admirers and detractors - but "Vitalogy" seems like the last largely loved PJ album to me...

My go-to choice for Vangelis is actually Beauborg ("the, Metal Machine Music of mellow synth albums"!). I like it for its unexpected depth of color, and fearless progressions from one mood to the next. So, take your kitty-cats walking over the luxury cars and privileged olympians running along the beach, and stick 'em up your unicorn!

Ha! That is hilarious, actually, because I was going to choose No Code but figured more people liked that one! Consider it switched. :goodie:
