The Canadian version is a 2-disc set with the entire concert. The US version is an edited 1-disc set. Why the hell would Rhino do this???

So they won't have to pay as much money in royalties.

I could be wrong, but as far as I know, the Canadian version is not the complete concert. the second disc has only local Canadian bands who performed before the "big" acts later in the day. The first disc is identical to the US version with select tracks from the big acts. There is no compete show in the works from what I understand.

    (Thank goodness for boot dvds...shhhhh)

My buddy saw a track listing for the Canadian version that had twice as many Rolling Stones cuts as the US version. He also has numerous boots of the complete show & he says the track listings he saw for the Canadian version matches up with whats on the boots.

The Canadian Version is a 2 disc set but it has 6 Stones tracks, and only 2 AC/DC tracks (and they were supposedly the best band there) and 3 Rush Tracks. It seems that they have short changed AC/DC and Rush on this set!! Dan Ackroyd if I am not mistaken gets 3 songs!!

One (ahem) version out there is 2 DVDs, but the full RUsh, AC/DC, and Stones sets from one of the broadcasts. Excellent pro quality. For the record, it's real pressings (i.e. silver DVDs), not some homemade job. Well done if I may add, too. :)

I've had it for months. The only reason for me to pick up any new and official version is Rush in 5.1.

I don't think the bands got paid. Tickets were incredibly cheap ($12.50 or so). It was supposed to bring the tourists back to Toronto. Heck - it brought me back to Downsview. ;)

I think the admission charge was just to cover costs.... the video screens set ups, etc. I don't recall specifics. Must be getting old or something.... :(

(P.S. It was held in Downsview Park - an area in Toronto)

According to the Toronto Star, the first disc contains "homegrown" talent including Blue Rodeo, Sam Roberts, etc. The second disc is the rest of the program, including the Guess Who and Rush.

For me, it's essential to have a DVD - I was waaaay at the back and could barely see the stage. I watched on the monitors.

Does the DVD have DVD-A or just regular DVD?

I believe it is a DVD Video disc only, Dave. I saw no DVD Audio logo on the package.

Gary I think they did get paid. Remember all that talk of spending money to get The Stones to come here? Let's figure this one out 'cause I may be imagining this. I think it was money to pay them to get them to play here. I mean, I don't think Sam Roberts (great Montreal rock musician and band friends!) got paid, but the Stones, yeah I think it was expensive.

And folks - this wasn't like Bangladesh or something - this concert was meant as a morale booster - the city of Toronto paid for it!
