Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip vocalist) Beautiful Thing album released

Alexis Taylor (singer with Hot Chip) released his fourth solo album on Friday, Beautiful Thing. He’s worked on it with producer Tim Goldsworthy (UNKLE) and I picked it up on vinyl yesterday which means you get an additional 3 tracks. I was a bit worried about the pressing as the album itself has a number of slower and quieter tracks, almost ambient backing in places, in additiom to big pop/dance numbers similar to Hot Chip, and so it needed a quiet pressing to do it justice. I’m happy to report it sounds great on vinyl, no surface noise or pops so the moments of silence on some tracks are just that. The music itself is like a nice chilled Hot Chip, after the after party type music.

I’ve been trying to collect the vinyl recently (having bought their stuff on CD previously) but surprisingly a lot of it is out of print. I managed to get the last 3 albums but The Warning and One Life Stand are impossible to find for a decent price.
