Beach House are one of my favorites. Why haven't I seen this thread before!

Really like the sound of the brand new track more than the Lemon one.

Does anyone have Teen Dream on vinyl? When the album was released I bought it on CD and played it for months, now I’m considering getting the vinyl but just wary in case the pressing is bad. It’s not the kind of music tbat’s very forgiving of pops and crackle

 

Ace, I only noticed today - one week after the Berlin concert - that the BH homepage allows you to vote three songs, you would like to hear at the upcoming show! As options they are offering every song from every album! Which is a nice touch.

Toyed with the idea of catching them in Hamburg tonight - because Berlin was so magical and inspiring - but I have to work and a three hour drive (one way) seems rather like torture.

 

Received "B-Sides & Rarities" yesterday and have to say the whole package couldn't possibly be any more barebones. In fact this looks like a budget release. And retails between 25 and 30€ over here. Nice!

Once the music starts, such reservations - thankfully - are immediately forgotten because most of this is terrific. No idea why "Rain in Numbers" and "Wherever You Go" are included though. I mean... are there any versions of "Beach House" and "Bloom" out there, that do not include them as hidden tracks? The former may have a soothing and reassuring effect - "Your copy of our first album isn't defective at the end of side two. This thing is meant to sound like that!" - while the latter at the very least saves us the hassle of putting the needle over "Bloom"'s locked groove. So maybe that was the whole idea!

The Queen (!) cover is a bit of a curio and "Saturn Song" does sound like a rarity while the three "Teen Dream" era reworkings are fantastic. And the rest.... the rest have the stone cold quality to be album tracks.

Which adds up to seven great "new" songs, one good "new" song, three great "new" versions plus three tracks that didn't necessary need to show up here. Out of 14 that's more than solid. An essential addition to your Beach House collection!

 

Beach House is one of my favourite bands and just today I noticed that my Bloom vinyl has an extra track! I cannot believe I have not noticed before! I am such a muppet.

Glad I eventually figured out Bloom needed to be played at 45 rpm...

 

Here in the UK at least, the iTunes session set is now available from the Qobuz site in CD quality with slightly modified artwork...

 

I've been revisiting this album yesterday and made the same mistake. Male vocals on a Beach House album, wait a minute! "Bloom" is still great. Amazingly I found out that I suddenly preferred "Depression Cherry" over "Thank Your Lucky Stars". Have to revisit "7" next!

I had a suspicion I was on their mailing list so I checked. And I am on their mailing list. Strange that they didn't send out any information about an upcoming eight album using this channel.....

 

What I'm totally looking forward to is seeing them live again. Because those "7" shows were really something, absolutely fantastic. Probably going to see more than one show this time around!
