Wow, you are correct, the year everyone hates, at least it appears I did based on your list of songs. I could only pick the one Queen song. I don't even own a Queen album but do like a few of their songs and that happens to be one. Concerning the other songs on the list, either I never heard of them or they are not my cup of English tea. Maybe not having access to English radio had an affect on my not being familar with the majority of the artists or the ones you picked are a far cry from what I was listening to at that time.

No Charge is the ultimate loser here.

    Such a shame.

You spelt "God Save The Queen" by the Sex Pistols wrong, thus preventing me from voting for it ;)

It appears that I was just as out of step with the singles charts in 1976-77 as I am in 2019. Some things never change.

Voted for BhoRap only as I did like it at the time.

Would have given Combine Harvester a sympathy vote but 11 people have got there before me so I didn't.

    I agree with you wholeheartedly.
I think the problem is people just hear the song without actually listening to the sentiment and the words.
It is a timeless classic that every new generation of parents can identify with.
I wonder if its time to give this song its own thread to try and bring it to a wider modern audience.

Personally I think it needs a cover version by a contemporary artist like say Michael Bublé or Stormzy, with perhaps Celine Dion or Cheryl Tweedy/Cole/ Fernandez-Versini taking the female vocal....

The Tina Charles song was one I never particularly cared for in 1976.

However, I really quite enjoy hearing it nowadays.

I recall her having a few follow ups that sounded very close to I Love To Love.

It irritated me in 1976, possibly because I was a moody teenager and she looked so happy, or it may have been the jumper she wore on TOTPs.

I've forgiven her and now when I hear I Love To Love it makes me smile :)

Megamix of I Love To Love for @Bobby Morrow, but no trendy jumper.

She also sang on the 5000 Volts hit, I'm On Fire, but not Doctor Kiss Kiss.
