Don't forget the mighty SORCERER from Sweden - their two demos are essential !!! I also love the first 3 albums of TROUBLE and the first 2 albums of SOLITUDE AETERNUS...there is so much good Doom stuff out there !!!

    Disembowelment
    Esoteric
    Mournful Congregation
    Inverloch
Faustcoven (not 100% doom, but they more than qualify)

I do think that Disembowelment's "Transcendence Into The Peripheral" is one of the greatest metal albums ever recorded and pretty much the pinnacle of the genre.

Thergothon's "Stream From The Heavans" reigns supreme for doom metal IMO!

The only doom releases I bought in recent years are:

    Candlemass s/t
Candlemass "King of the Grey Islands"
    Solitude Aeturnus "Alone"
Paradise Lost "In Requiem" (should it qualify?)
Paradise Lost "Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us"
    Paradise Lost "Tragic Idol"

...and Heaven and Hell "The Devil You Know"

But, overall, nowadays I mostly prefer "vegetarian post-doom-rock" a la Anathema.

I have been listening to a good deal of Electric Wizard's stuff recently. "Come My Fanatics" "Supercoven" and "Dopethrone" are all amazing.

I also have a lot of Earth's discography. Both of their recent albums are really good.

Can't do Sunn O))). I tried their first record and was bored to tears. Maybe if it had drums...

I have enjoyed some of the stuff I have heard from Sleep. Might pick up one of their albums in the future.

Obviously, you don't go down this road unless you have most Sabbath albums in multiple formats!! Haha!

Dopethrone's my favourite EW albums - one of the heaviest albums ever recorded!

    Couple of others worth recommending:

Warhorse - As Heaven Turns To Ash
    Sloth - Sloth

    Heavy Doom!

Agreed. If you do not like the first four Sabbath albums this genre will not do much for you.
