Sounds about right. I still have it. How long were those cases around? They are pretty good quality.

No idea, but I guarantee we have a geek, uh, an expert in the house that could give you the exact date, and full history on the fatboy jewel case.

Yep. Bought the vinyl first day it was released back in November of '76 :).

Mine even had a piece of foam between each CD.

Part of my desire to sell off more of my original vinyl, shows me for the attention whore that I am.

The look on those kid's faces as my albums are being appraised...the questions of " life back then," and the sheer hero worship of looking up to a Man that continues to LIVE, and laugh...laugh I tell you !!!!! Into the very face of death.
    Yes, a teenager of the 70s !!!!!!!!!!

Mine did as well. The problem with some of the foam is it disintegrates and makes a mess of the discs and artwork.

If you are just interested in Hi-Res downloads this is one of those great chances to use the Pono Promise free upgrades.

Since a couple of the albums have bonus tracks, it won't work. But for the ones that don't, you can buy the 16/44.1 version from Pono now for under $13 and hope the tracklists match etc. and they get upgraded when the hi-res versions are released.

You would want to avoid The Allman Brothers Band as the tracklist will be different from previous releases, they already have 24/192 for The Allman Brothers band anyway, along with The 1971 Filmore East Recordings, Eat a Peach, and 24/96 Brothers and Sisters. I'm thinking of giving it a shot on Win, Lose or Draw ($12.89), Wipe the Windows... ($12.89) and Enlightened Rogues ($7.69).

Is it pretty certain those 3 don't have any bonus tracks or anything on the new releases?

The other benefit (after saving some money) is that you will get to compare 2 different masterings.

Nice looking set and all but I'm sticking with the Mo-Fi's.

Except for the vinyl Where It All Begins since Mo-Fi ain't doin' that one.

I hope so. I bought Wipe The Windows from Pono last year when the ABB ABA (!) thread was going strong. Since it was 16/44, I had a hope in the back of my head that sooner rather than later it would be getting a true hi-res release.

But they aren't in a Peach Crate! but I'm with ya. Got most of them on originals in great shape, but I want that crate!

I'm a little surprised that a CD release of these remasters do not appear to be in the plans.

However I think it is great news about the vinyl and hi res releases.

I'd buy the 16/44.1 USB files for $30. PM if you bought this massive set and want some help with the cost! I'll post in the WTB forum too...

As tempting as this is...I'm excited about being able to hear these on BOTH of my setups. Vinyl through the 1978 Jensens, and the USB through the Harman Kardon / Yamahas.

My 32 year-old son did say when this was announced, how they should be selling the stick separately also. :agree:

I've got so many of these records already ... and they're still minty.

Where'd you purchase the crate from?

Does anyone know if Eat a Peach has the matte-finish cover? Wow....that would be a nice touch!
