Very exciting! Thanks for sharing I hope for Good Mastering . I was lucky to see them Live on 2016 in Tel Aviv, It was Amazing live show, such a wonderful band!
one of my favorite albums of all time. does it need a remaster though? it sounds stellar on each format, with outstanding DR. i think the CD and LP are both kind of hard to find in the US though so that might be nice.
Wow.... it was high time somebody collected all these b-sides and extended versions! Over here most of these can be found dirt cheap but a well mastered reissue would be very nice! Now the question is: Will this come with sticker and poster like the original 1984 vinyl did? Still wonder what' "The Nelson Highrise" is all about. "Dance With Me" included another part. But that's from their sophomore album....
Not sure if people realise today how great opener "A Victory Of Love" sounded back in September 1984 because back then only two singles had been released and we weren't really familiar with Marian's voice. So when the album begins and he suddenly starts to sing in a low voice that was..... whaaaaaat?! For me it's still one of the classic album openers but I realise I might be in a minority here! Guess one of the reasons I like Franz Ferdinand so much is that Alex Kapranos reminds me of Marian Gold!
I agree , Awesome track to open the album, a real classic. A Victory Of Love is a Gorgeous song I loved the song from the first time I heard it, I love the low vocal tone , it adds a dramatic atmosphere to the song, the music is stunning.
Nice, but I'd like to buy 2CD+DVD version, without LP and CD with demos.. at least, without a vinyl in this set..
great news!! One off my most played cd`s since 1984 great to have a remasterd vinyl copy. the wea vinyl from the 80`s is not as good as the cd from that era. (Imho)
Great news and a great album. Went through a faze two years ago where I bought everything they made. Lovely band, but the first album is a special one!
The original WEA Target CD is one of the best sounding CD's I have ever listened to (not to mention the wonderful album it is). A remaster is not really necessary; A reissue with extras is most definitely welcome. A bit of a missed opportunity with the DVD however, they could have included a multichannel mix, or at least a hi-res version.
put this on the turntable last night immediately after reading this thread and was reminded of exactly this. that opener is stellar. to regard this album simply as a "great synth pop album" is kind of a disservice.
..... don't get me started! But still it puzzles me that this album is never mentioned when people talk about "Berlin albums". It's always Bowie, Bowie, Bowie. And U2. Yet this album offers an amazing snapshot of early 80's West Berlin. Hey, they even wrote a hit single about male prostitutes at Bahnhof Zoo! Still....
Besides the DVD, is anything unique to this set? Apart from the 1988 8 track singles collection. 7 Digital had the massive 93 track Dreamscapes Revisited (2006) Boxset for like 8 bucks last year. (For that price of course I grabbed it) Alphaville - Dreamscapes Revisited
Ups! Still I'd be potentially interested in that super-deluxe if the mastering is good. Because I don't see the point in spending money on something that sounds better on the original 3€ compact disc or 5€ vinyl. Prices for these 1984/5 Alphaville releases are grotesque over here!
Concerning the new remastering: Hoping for the best But expecting the worst Are you going to drop the bomb brick Or not?!
Just played the "Forever Young" 12" and the fast version is absolutely terrific. So is "Welcome to the sun". The title song resonates more with each passing year... it's fascinating. And a bit sad. Big fan of those first album 12-inches!
The remixes and remastering are probably the same ones from Blank and Jones from the previous 12 inch cd collection. later -1
Exactly what I was thinking. Lose the vinyl and the demo's CD. Vinyl should be separate. I really don't like how all these deluxe sets include vinyl to juice the price.
Re: Disc 2-- are "Big in Japan (Single Version)" and "Big in Japan (Extended Version)" the same as "Big in Japan (Single Version 88)" and "Big in Japan (Remix 88)" from the Singles Collection? Or are these different versions from 1984?
