Well its the time of year when I start rotating my equipment around and doing some experimenting. I recently refoamed my Altec Model 4 woofers and have just put them in my main living room system. My Magnavox 6v6 pushes them well with deep controlled bass and a nice sparkly top end that is clean and not grainy at all.
Does anyone have any experience with these? The net is surprisingly devoid of information about them aside from the common technical specs. I actually found more info in my old Playboy Book of Stereo from around 1980 on these. Or at least about the Mantaray tweeter.
The speakers are a 2-way 10" woofer design. A very heavy cast frame woofer and a nice cabinet with real wood grain veneer. The driver board also has a rectangular port and a tweeter level control.
I'm going to be in all weekend and play a variety of stuff while sitting around the fireplace. I'm hoping to break in the new surrounds and read some opinions on these. Also any cabinet or crossover upgrades are welcome too.

    Update.
The Altec have been carefully stored back away. They are nice all in all, but are no comparison to my modded and trusty CV 311p. I hooked them back up and it left no doubt. The only ones that have come close to equaling the 311p's are my Pioneer Quartet 70. Trying to find ANY info on those is practically impossible.
