Amazon UK now allowing marketplace sellers to set media rates

    Before, shipping rates to UK addresses were £1.26 for one CD; now some sellers want from £3.49 to £3.80. Some have kept the old £1.26 rate. Some gently raised to £1.60.

    I didn't check what the shipping rates are for countries outside the UK, though.

    If they were able to stay in the business for the usual £1.26 shipping, I guess they'll be making serious money now. Royal Mail are, IIRC the cheapest. In most cases, they are UK based companies that doubled the shipping rates to UK addresses... let's see how long it lasts. By the way, since yesterday a small number of sellers reverted back to the £1.26 domestic. I guess they spotted less sales compared to the competitors that sell the same title for the same price. The article I mentioned in my previous post talks about new fees for the sellers, too.
     
  4. It's been like this on the US site for a few months. It makes price comparisons a little more difficult.
