Amy Grant CDs soon to be out of print in physical pressed CD form

The Tennessee Christmas album is nominated for a Dove Award for this year.

 

Amy became a Pop artist when she signed with A&M in 1985. A&M is a secular label-and all of her A&M releases were basically pop albums. At the time that Amy signed with A&M,the label also entered into a distribution deal with Word Records(which is Myrrh Records parent label).This allowed Amy's A&M releases to be jointly distributed in the Gospel/CCM marketplace under the Myrrh label.

Most people probably didn't realize this back then-but looking back at the situation now,this concept was designed to get Amy into the mainstream pop arena while also keeping her foothold in the Gospel/CCM market,albeit with a totally different product.

 

All this talk about Amy at her peak pop popularity reminds me...

In 1996, I visited Nashville for her Christmas concert and there was a small shop down by the Wildhorse called Goods for You, which exclusively sold, you guessed it, Amy Grant memorabilia. Just a small antedote that shows how huge she was at one point. Even though she has "peaked" in that regard, her new music is like fine wine and just keeps getting better. Speaking of which, does anyone know if she has plans for any new recorded material anytime soon?

 

There has been no announcement from Jennifer Cooke as of yet on the Friends of Amy Facebook group about new music. There is this documentary on TBN airing.

I know and it's amazing that she's 57, looks great and sounds like she is still in her commercial heyday.

 

She seems to have taken care of her voice nicely (and her bod too.. haha).

 

Not many can say that.
