I've just come across this one today and I'm struggling to track down any info on it.

From the title on Amazon it suggests it's an Amazon Italy Exclusive and contains the following records: (Italian Excerpt lifted from Amazon's description)

Anyone else know anything on this one?

 

I don't think it's an Amazon exclusive, since I got an e-mail from Universal about this today. I'm hoping that "Frank" really is a double-LP, since I think it's always been pressed as a single-LP.

Amy Winehouse / 8LP vinyl box


This December, Island Records will release Amy Winehouse The Collection, a new 8LP vinyl box set.

The ‘limited edition’ collection comprises Winehouse’s two studio albums, posthumous compilation Lioness – Hidden Treasures, a 2LP set of live recordings from her 2007 Shepherd’s Bush shows and a Rarities LP.
Each record will be pressed onto 180g vinyl and the box will also include a bespoke litho print and an exclusive set of photographs taken from the commissioned sessions for Frank and Back To Black.
At the moment, it appears that Universal are selling this exclusively in the UK via their store but the cheaper option is to pre-order via Amazon Italy.
Amy Winehouse will be released on 11 December 2015.

Whoa. Amy is my favorite. Full stop. But I was not buying vinyl at all when she was putting stuff out and I don't have any of her on vinyl. A must purchase.

I'd kind of like to wait and see if this will be available from other places? I will not buy a box set from overseas Amazon after too many bad experiences. Shipping is just insane on boxes. Any guess as to a US release?

 

Nice. I'm tempted for sure. Lots of material there I don't own.

 

You can order it directly from Universal with the links above. I'm sure they will package it better for shipping than Amazon international.

That rarities set looks nice. I've seen a bunch of great live and acoustic clips by her on youtube. I've long wondered why there was never any "Best Of Live..." collection released, especially since her last "official" album was so disappointing.

 

I'd love to get "Frank" as a 2LP and "Rarities". Thats all I need..

 

Udiscover store is £80 now while Amazon UK is £98s. If they have produced another rarities disc they must have scraped the barrel. Didn't think there was anything releasable in the vaults.

Got my set yesterday. So far so good. The box is nice and well put together. Numbered which I didn't know about. I played Frank, B2B and the first disc of Lioness and all sounded good to me. Flat quiet vinyl. One gripe is the double LP sleeves are bigger than the singles. They don't match in size... They are bigger than other double sleeves on my shelf too. And the Lioness cover looks awful, but the back and inside look ok. Not sure what the original vinyl on that looks like. But it's grainy. The rest all look fine! It comes with a little (8"x8?) envelope with a few very nice photos of her. Just a little something that I wasn't expecting but it was a nice little find.

No download code which would have been nice for the live set and the rarities disc. Were those ever put out on CD?...

For the price I paid I really have NO complaints. (except for the minor ones above... ). I really am happy to have this.

 

Is it a GZ job?

Question for Amy experts (or if anyone knows): Received my box set from Amazon.ca yesterday; just noticed that Frank has dropped a song on the double vinyl (i.e. 'Help Yourself') from the original single LP (which I have as well) and CD. Does anyone have any history on this or know why it was removed? It is not available elsewhere on the box. Thanks in advance.

 

Good catch. I don't have an answer but that's kind of a bummer. I wonder if there is a reason? It's not like they didn't have space for it...

 

I'm going through mine this morning. So far BTB and Rarities are very good clean and quiet. Take the Box on Frank has some distortion. I didn't wash the records before playing so I'll try again after washing.

The gem of the set is Live in London. Very, very good pressing. Clean, quiet and sounds great. Best I've heard this concert so far.
