Remember, the their first manager who pressed this record was living out of the back of a truck camper in Ohio, not exactly the music capital of the world. Plus, I had an RCA "Compact single" from the 1960's that had a small hole. It was a 7 inch and played at 33 1/3 RPM.
Those were not common. I have never seen a regional indie 45 from c.1964 that didn't have a large center hole.
I think I see Ethan Embry in more stuff then I do the other three member of The Wonders. Funny that the outcasted drummer (Giovanni Ribisi) has had the most prolific career of them all
Oddly enough, Giovanni Ribisi's father Albert Ribisi, was a member of a one-hit wonder 60's band... People - "I Love You" #14, 1968.
Actually it was Guy Patterson's uncle (played by Chris Issak) that pressed the record. Granted he mostly recorded local church choirs and sermons so your point is still valid, I guess.
That's pretty cool. I can't see Steve Zahn in another role and not think of him as "Lenny." And of course, the guy who played Jimmy later played Judas in a Biblical TV miniseries.
I heard them play this song at the supermarket today. It's not a good song. It's structured like the "Happy Days" theme played sideways.
I think "modern" producers feel like if they have 40 mics in the closet, they need to use them all. Same with all the sonic goodies.
Someone mentioned That Thing You Do on the Almost famous or Rock Star thread. I thought it was a great excuse for a bump up. Absolutely love this movie !
I agree with you and it's something I noticed right off, when I first saw the movie. I have thousands of 45s from the 60's, including quite a few small, regional pressings and none of them have a small hole, with the exception of a couple where it was clearly a pressing plant error.
Steve Zahn was the best thing about this movie. I quote his character all the time. You're talkin' gibberish!
Has this movie ever been streaming anywhere? I've wanted to see it since it came out, but never got around to it, but I've never seen it anywhere, in a rental store, on TV, or streaming. Granted, I haven't had cable in 20 years, but you'd think I'd encounter it somewhere.
