Which is an epic shame since Cyndi Lauper was like 100 times more talented than Maggie not to mention comparing Madonna's musical talents to ONJ is more or less like comparing Paris Hilton to Ingrid Bergman.

One of Livvy's most fragile and strange vocal performances and John Farrar's masterpiece.

Can't say I love the song (bad choice for a second single) but the single cover, OMG....

    I can't contain my excitement.
Yesterday I ran into a church and shrieked until I was chased out by an old woman with an umbrella.
    What's next Anton?:D

And the back cover is just as good! Great photo session. This picture you've put up here could have been the album cover.

MMMOM isn't her most inspired single, but did the business for her in the States. It's Farrar at his most commercial. Not his best work, for sure.

Of the dance rock tracks I think this should have been a huge hit

I'm not a huge Madonna fan, but I will say the records she made from the mid-80s on were a lot better than what Olivia was producing. For instance her 'Like A Virgin' and 'True Blue' are fantastic pop albums. Much better than Olivia's 'Soul Kiss' which came out around the same time.

Also, (I know you won't agree with this!) Madonna's 'Like A Prayer' album is a 100 times better than Olivia's 'The Rumour' which came out a few months before it.

She had solidly produced records but I can't say I agree with anything you said here. IMHO Madonna is not an artist, she's a soulless manufactured product with good PR instincts and fantastic management.

I think this is an overlooked track on the album. It's a great rocker from Olivia. She really gives it some kick.

So it's only 5 records to go. If anyone wants to "place a bet" on which LPs will turn up in the Top 5 you're welcome! Would love to see your predictions!:righton::wave:

Wouldn't really have a clue based on the other 45! A Bee Gees, maybe?

    Hopefully another Olivia?

    Possibly not any Madonna?!

Anton, you mentioned there would be more Jason Molina in your top 50. Maybe I missed it, but is there something else from him to come?

    Great thread!! Loving it!

I don't think a U. S. governor's powers extend that far. I think the video or song "Physical" was banned in South Africa. Maybe on a college campus somewhere, but not the entire state of Utah.

Actually, I think Madonna's success helped open doors to other female pop singers. I think people believe Janet Jackson became a star due to her family heritage, but I think it was more because Madonna made female dance pop more popular. Janet's choice of collaborators helped a lot, too! :)

A beautiful jazz waltz with an incredible bridge. One of my favorites by ONJ.

P.S. Whether some of those will make my actual Top 5 remains to be seen...:shh:
