Any band or artist that everybody seems to like but you just can't get into them?

I think as I age I become more and more accepting of what I used to 'not get' or 'hate'. Just recently I have developed an appreciation for the Grateful Dead, whom I used to loathe.

That said, I don't think the title of this thread was thought out very well because a lot of the acts mentioned here aren't in the remotest since artists 'everyone' likes. In fact, for the most part, I've seen a lot of nice artists mentioned. There is no artist that 'everybody' likes anyway. Impossible.

Slippery slope threads like these usually become an opportunity for people to rail on artists they dislike as opposed to 'don't get'. Big difference, obviously.

    Justin Beiber.

Everybody here just freaking adores him, but I just can't get on the Beiber Express. I guess I'm just not hip..... :sigh:

    The Rolling Stones
    Frank Sinatra

I like some of their music, but not nearly as much as most music listeners do.

    really?
I decided to not even mention Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Beyonce, etc. on this board, because they are more for me in the category of "not taken seriously by people 20+" than "everybody seems to like"

U2. But, I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

Pink Floyd. Everybody in high school listened to them. Just never did it for me.

There was a time when I didn't "get" Dylan or Radiohead but both grew on me over time. Not a diehard fan of either but both have some material I really do enjoy

He's already been mentioned but for me it's the Dave Matthews band.i know I'm in the minority with this but they do absolutely nothing for me. A close second would be any guitar shredder from the 90"s on.

Black Sabbath, The Grateful Dead, and Little Feat, are the three from years past that I just can't seem to get a handle on.

From the current era, it's most of the current crop of pop radio stars that really elude me. I suppose I'm just not too crazy about modern production styles, because everything just sounds sterile and cold. Songwriting is something that seems to have taken a real hit as well. I know there's indie stuff and other music on the fringe that would probably appeal to me, but honestly, I have such a backlog of jazz and classical music that I want to hear that I just don't feel the desire to search it out.

Many of forum' sacred cows aren't for me. Among them:

    - Leonard Cohen
    - Elvis Costello
    - The Clash
    - Joy Division
    - Sex Pistols
    - Ramones
    - Patty Smith
    - Johnny Cash
    - Grateful Dead (yes, I've been listening to them a lot trying to like them, but I can't)
    - Frank Sinatra
    - Nirvana
    - Adele
    - Arcade Fire
    - Foo Fighters
    - Red Hot Chili Peppers
    etc

And any rapper/hip hop act and producers like Lil Wayne, Kayne West, Jay Z, Eminem, etc

Wilco, Radiohead, Steven Wilson, Jason Aldean, Train, Mumford and Sons, Black Keys, Bon Iver. Tried to like The Monkees(huge fan of 60s pop here but didn't enjoy any tunes except for Daydream Believer).

Based on the number of times that Radiohead comes up I would have said that they are not a band that 'everybody' likes...

In fact I'm not sure there is a band who everybody likes.

Bands that most would assume I like based on my favorite artists, but I really have no use for:

    Bruce Springsteen
    The Rolling Stones
    Bob Seger

Other than the Monkees and the Black Keys (if only for "Lonely Boy"), I agree with all these.
