Would it be impossible? Any guesses on pre-order numbers?
There was a MFSL, so it isn't out of the question.
If something were going to happen it would have been tied into the DSOTM box set like the WYWH SACD was.
As much chance as my getting a time machine, so I can go back and make mad passionate love to :
The SACD sounds great. There are so many other titles in need of Steve Hoffman's magical treatment, IMO (hint: most were released in the decades after the 1970s).
I would prefer a Van Morrison title. The SACD and current remaster are quite good.
After the Blu-ray and the SACD, there is little need for another remaster of this album by anybody.
How about AF starts remastering some stuff from the 90s that needs it.
right now i think the best mastering of DSOTM is that non-TO toshiba black triangle. and i believe that was mastered from a tape copy...you can hear tape anomolies in it that arent on the master tape during On the Run. I think that a better mastering certainly is possible if the master tape is in better condition than that Japanese tape copy was 30 years ago.
Heard it so many times that I'm sick of it. Maybe it's time to pick "Animals" for the audiophile treatment?
Get somebody to do an all analog reissue of Animals, and I will throw money at the computer screen until the record shows up at my doorstep.
So it's 50-50?
I don't think that payment option works very well - I've tried!
Great album but, bloody hell, hasn't it been done to death at this stage!
Any chance of a day without a Pink Floyd thread....
We agree on one thing, same could be said about Beatles, McCartney and Stones too, have a feeling the thread will be closed for me saying that!
the SACD is quite good.
Another vote for Animals instead
About as much chance as them doing Revolver.
So, you guys honestly like the way the SACD sounds? I couldn't stand it. The analog warmth that even regular early CD pressings have is gone. The old DCC company nearly had it in the bag but for some reason it was never allowed to materialize. Our loss IMO because if anything could have bettered the non-TO/non-CDP black triangle pressing it would have been a DCC done by Steve when they were still pressing the Gold CDs in Japan. (wanting thinking about the DCC Doors albums while posting this ).
This is a title that already has had many great sounding releases. Black Triangle, MFSL, SACD, 90's remaster, 2011 remaster...heck even the 80's U.S. Capitol CD sounds great. Not to mention the various vinyl issues over the years.
With the 2011 remaster still fresh on the shelves, it's doubtful EMI would relicense DSOTM any time soon. I suspect we only got Wish You Were Here on SACD because it had already been in the works for some time, and unlike DSOTM, there hadn't been a previous SACD issue (which appears to still be in print, by the way).
Best for AF to concentrate on other titles, IMHO (and hoping they get the opportunity to fix some of today's loudness war victims eventually).
Separate names with a comma.
