I love this band's ethereal music. They captured the new wave essence of the early 80's as new wave was slowly on its way out as they combined great guitar and synth sounds of such bands as the Cure and Dead Can Dance. Albums such as Garlands, Blue Bell Knoll and still later, Heaven or Las Vegas and Four Calendar Cafe are gems. My favorite songs being Mussette & Drums as well as Summerhead. Anyone else wish that Elisabeth and Robin would kiss and make up and comeback ?

They wrote beautiful songs that sometimes had a element of sadness to them. I think two English Romantic poets when I listen to them - Percy Shelley and John Keats.

Was a big fan in the 80s. I have all of their albums I think. 1st four are my favourites, never really got into Heaven Or Las Vegas, Milk & Kisses etc. The Lullabies To Violaine 4cd set is great collection of their 12"eps.

Loved TMC too, especially Filigree & Shadow. Always wanted to get the Japanese remaster box but never got round too it - too expensive.
Oh yes - I love the 16 days Gathering Dust track (long version) on 12" and the track Another Day. I know it's not really Cocteau Twins, but it's them in my head (!).

Steve, we have had some good discussions over the years about CT. Try using the search function to pull up some of the archives!

Every time I hear the song "Frou Frou Foxes" it stops me dead in my tracks. Unbelievably beautiful song!

john lennonist There ONCE was a NOTE, PURE and EASY...

"Treasure" is my fave album of theirs.

Cocteau LPs are fairly expensive on the rare times they show up in the bins, but I hear that the remastered CDs are brickwalled up the anus, so vinyl seems to be the way to go.

Love love love Cocteau Twins, and how wonderful might it be if they recorded again. "Treasure" will always be my favorite album of theirs, but my favorite track is one they contributed to Lonely is an Eyesore:

The old compact discs sound fine, they are not audiophile recordings to begin with
Some of the remasters have clipping galore, I do not recommend them...
The vinyl is not night and day from there cd counterpart, depending on your setup you may get better soundstage but that's about it
I actually prefer the old Compact Disc over the Wally US Heaven or Las Vegas, in my opinion for what I like :)

Add Victorialand and The Moon and the Melodies to that list. Their mystique doesn't diminish with time.

Heaven Or Las Vegas was one of my favorite albums of 1990...that was the hook that got me to explore their back catalog. Wish I could have seen them live!

Yup. Like all of their LPs but I'm particularly fond of Blue Bell Knoll and Heaven or Las Vegas...

Pink Opaque for me Dave, picked up the cassette in the late 80's for the album cover, had no idea who they were
Had a chance to see them but they ended up cancelling a small bar gig, too hung over from the previous night or something to the effect

Along with Cocteau Twin's ethereal music, 4AD and their overall design aesthetic was the perfect collaboration.

Love them! I was lucky to see them twice. My favorite time was on the Heaven or Las Vegas tour in Denver.

That one was my hook too with the minor hit "Iceblink Luck". They played it quite a bit here in Chicago on WXRT.

This is the only one I have, which sounds like most other live boots I've heard over the years, I think Liz was always hammered...
Yeah boots and lack of speeeling correctness always makes me chuckle
