There was a book about Amicus in the pipeline through Tomahawk Press http://tomahawkpress.com/ for months, but I see on their facebook that the author Phillip Nutman passed away.

"We are so sad to hear of the passing of Phil Nutman. As his publisher, we had exchanged many emails, and spoken on the phone a few times. - but never met. He was working on the definitive book on Amicus films for us. I know it saddened him to be so far from home, as he was thoroughly English. He'll be missed. RIP."

A few years back, I stumbled across this cool documentary at a local used DVD store: "Flesh And Blood: The Hammer Heritage Of Horror".
It's hosted by Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing and is a great resource for the history of Hammer Studios. Lot's of great interviews as well.

It is a good documentary but it seems to lift a lot of it's footage from an earlier one called Hammer The Studio That Dripped Blood.
    Not sure why.

Awesome list. I am surprised "The Innocents" is missing.

I never saw that documentary, so I can't comment on any comparisons. IMDb says this DVD is made from a two-part British TV special from 1994. I found it enjoyable and informative. After seeing this, I realized that I hadn't watched many of the Hammer films since I was a kid. It inspired me to purchase quite a few Hammer (and other European) horror DVDs - so it inspired me.

Love them, especially with Christopher Lee.

Yep. When I first saw it, that Quint 'reflection scene' scared me outta my skin! 'Course, that's not the only scary part.

Yes, I know it's not visual but those BBC Audio/Derek Jacobi/MR James readings are exceptional. Every Christmas I listen to 'The Story Of A Disappearance and An Appearance'.

Just watched the trailer. Wow. It's so bad. I didn't know Cushing was ever that desperate.

Yorkshire TV-Appointment With Fear. Good memories. I remember the day we got our first colour TV, must have been 1974. It was a Friday and, at 10.30pm, Dracula Has Risen From The Grave. It looked great, with all that blood and the red lining to his cape..just terrifying for a youngster. I still have the occasional dream trying to kill that son of a ..

After watching the entire series, one thing I appreciated is how most of the entries kept a fairly decent level of continuity, i.e. picking up where the previous film left off. If I remember correctly, the only ones that were sort of "stand-alone" entries that didn't follow continuity were Brides of Dracula, Dracula A.D. 1972, and The Satanic Rites of Dracula. The other 5 films form a chain that links up fairly well. :)

(Movie series that ignore previous entries or have serious gaps in continuity really grind my gears...)

That's an Italian/Spanish production, not British.
