I noticed it was louder on the Comedy Network than on the CBS broadcast.

There's not enough pot, even in LA, to make people laugh at this show like that.

    True.
Also, if a show is proudly announced as
“Filmed In Front Of A Live Audience”, most likely it:
    1. Was in a studio that has lighted signs that cue up for “Applause” or “Laugh” or whatever.
    2. Had a “studio emcee” that pre-coached and trained the audience to yuck it up loud.
“You’re gonna be taped, so let everyone know just how much you love this show!”
    3. Probably juiced up in post-production with additional canned laughs.

Speaking of canned laughter, I recently read that those laugh tracks were recorded so long ago that the people you hear laughing have long since been dead. Kind of a creepy thought.

In some cases, yes. I don’t remember what show but within the last year or two my wife was watching something - not a regular network show because it would have been too obvious, but some “comedy” on a cable channel - and I am sitting in the chair reading just barley paying attention to the noise around me. I hear a laugh track on the show and it sounds very familiar. A little later I hear the same one and it hits me — it’s Lucille Ball’s mother. They were using the audience from I Love Lucy.

No comments on the season finale Sheldon/Amy marriage episode? I thought it was surprisingly good. The guest stars were spot on. It was played straight ahead without the petty meanness that a lot of recent episodes have shown.

I thought it was very well done and surprisingly poignant.

If you had ever worked on a top-rated show filmed in front of a live audience you would know this is complete BS. It's difficult to get tickets for such a show and the people there are rabid fans. If anything on a show like Big Bang Theory they have to tone down the audience reaction.

Of course for non top-rated shows what you say is somewhat accurate. The plentiful candy bars help.

I thought the season finale leaned toward (but did not quite reach) being a return to form. I laughed more last night then probably the last 4 episodes combined.

FWIW, adult Sheldon's voiceover on last night's "Young Sheldon" revealed that he and Amy will have multiple children.

While Sheldon has a twin - Missy, twins would have to come from the mother's side.

I’m willing to concede that with all the various shows being filmed, NOT ALL, but probably most of them will have:
    1. Flashing “Applause” signs
    2. A “Host” to coach the audience
    3. Post production Laughs tagged on

... even on top rated shows, even if they draw eager and overzealous fans.

I have no reason to disbelieve you’re saying shows such as Big Bang Theory have rabid fans, but you haven’t convinced me that what I said before is “complete BS”.

I think it’s an industry standard, and no shows are above employing simple visual and comedic “goosings” , to make the shows seems like hilarious, riotous laughfests, when aired for broadcast.

It's probably time, but it was a great run. As the opening statement suggests, I think they are going out from a still strong position. Loved the show.

I'm going to miss it, especially since it's the show my spouse and I first enjoyed together. I do think that "Young Sheldon" is a worthy successor.

Nooooo! They could have them all get divorced and go back to the loveable nerds they were in the first few seasons.

I went on a studio tour and set of the show. The guide said sometimes they use the line/lines from one take but the applause from another if it was louder.

They should just let it run so we can watch the cast get even older and fatter.
