It's been two years since Karl was saying a new album was imminent. Anyone with any inside knowledge? Will it ever happen? :sigh:

I'd love to hear a new album but I wouldn't hold my breath despite what Wallinger says. Even if they never record again I'm happy with what they've done and enjoy it a lot.

Really love what I have from them. They're on my list of artists to seek when I'm shopping for used cds. :)

I agree that even if there isn't a new album there's plenty to love......it's just that I'm greedy and want more.

A great tune of theirs from 1990.

    :agree:

btw, I'm looking for a condensed track list of the Arkeology set. Say, one with the live tracks, covers, etc. stripped out.
    Anyone ever take this on?

That would be a worthy project....odd & ends.

I think Karl is one of those artists like Television or Andy Partridge where they did their bit and they're more or less done releasing new music. That's not to say I wouldn't love something new from any of those artists.

Or even like Paddy McAloon, where he still writes music and has a huge backlog, but just doesn't see the point of going through with recording and releasing any of it...

I made a single CD-R, using the unique songs from Arkeology, in chronological order:

This is worth a listen just for the two performances, but then he said something quite emphatically at 16:40. Mind you, this was from 2012! What comes after is NSFW, so just a warning [I certainly laughed though].

To be fair, that's pretty much what I was asking for. I've never really familiarized myself with his output beyond the studio albums. I'm finding that there is a ton of stuff Karl has done that never got a legitimate release. It's out there in the ether though.....he was much more active in the 90s than I realized.

It's great to hear this concert again. I recorded it to cassette back in the day, and played it over and over. I even took the trouble to make a special cover for it using Photoshop. I was totally obsessed with World Party after seeing them on this tour, promoting the wonderful Bang! Come on Karl, we all know you have another great album inside you. Please, please release it.
