I saw this fairly cheap yesterday and am wondering if it's worth getting.

Thanks for any advice on this!

It's the best version there is. I would have mastered it differently, but the disc sounds just like the master tape.

I don't mean to start this topic up again, but there's an Ultradisc and Ultradisc II. Never compared them both, but either should be far better than the current HDCD remaster, and probably better than the older CD.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably grab it.

Not sure this one was ever an Ultradisc (I).
I own this gold disc, and it's not one of the better sounding discs in the Mofi catalogue I must admit :( . (The Damn the Torpedoes MFSL sounds much better to me).
Better that the remaster though... never heard the original MCA.

Reportedly - but I've never heard of anyone actually having the UDI.

Damn the Torpedoes and Hard Promises were two of the first MFSLs I ever bought. They're worth every cent. What price are you looking at?

I thought Hard Promises only came out as UD II. Sounds great to me, as does Damn the Torpedoes.

Whoops, you're right, I got Hard Promises mixed up with Damn the Torpedoes.

Yes, pick this one up at any reasonable price! Much better than any MCA digital version I've heard.

Of course I have to ask....how would you have done it, Steve? Maybe a little "midrange magic" that you have to bring the vocals out?

If any album needs tube playback, this one does.

For sure, Steve. Those guitar sounds were meant to be jammed out to through some tubes.

I think I used this disc as an example of the "midrange suckout sound" a few weeks back  It don't sound bad, though.
