Damn. I'm gonna go ahead and call this one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Great idea. Awesome follow-through. Class act, nicely done, Uncle D!
I have a few, but one I am particularly proud of, is my expanded version of The Beatles Anthology set, which doubles the amount of discs per volume. So now it's twelve full discs instead of six mostly full discs!
A little collection I compiled for myself and later gave to my aunt who just got really into Queen not too long ago, compiled of every song that ever appeared on an official authorized best-of collection, but I used the full-length album versions (except for "I'm In Love With My Car" and "I Want To Break Free," where I used the longer single versions): Queen - The Definitive Collection Disc 1: Keep Yourself Alive Liar Seven Seas Of Rhye Killer Queen Now I'm Here Stone Cold Crazy Bohemian Rhapsody I'm In Love With My Car Death On Two Legs (Dedicated To...) This one I went all-out on the artwork for. I initially compiled it to play on the road trip to see the Stones live a few years back. The tracklisting has drastically changed since to accommodate the Blue & Lonesome tracks and a few more substitutions. The Rolling Stones - Rolled Goods Disc 1: Come On You Better Move On I Wanna Be Your Man Route 66 I Just Want To Make Love To You Carol Tell Me Not Fade Away Good Times, Bad Times Time Is On My Side Around And Around It's All Over Now Everybody Needs Somebody To Love Heart Of Stone Little Red Rooster The Last Time Play With Fire That's How Strong My Love Is Disc 2: (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction She Said Yeah I'm Free Get Off Of My Cloud As Tears Go By Mother's Little Helper Sittin' On A Fence 19th Nervous Breakdown Out Of Time Lady Jane Paint It, Black Under My Thumb Flight 505 Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing In The Shadow? Doesn't have all the big hits (many weren't singles) but I really enjoy the flow of this one. Led Zeppelin - Singles Disc 1: Good Times Bad Times Communication Breakdown Whole Lotta Love Living Loving Maid (She's Just A Woman) Immigrant Song Hey, Hey, What Can I Do Black Dog Misty Mountain Hop Rock And Roll Four Sticks Over The Hills And Far Away Disc 2: Dancing Days D'yer Mak'er The Crunge Trampled Under Foot Black Country Woman Candy Store Rock Royal Orleans Fool In The Rain Hot Dog Travelling Riverside Blues Baby Come On Home ----- This next one I don't have any artwork for but I compiled this from songs that I felt would sound good as a movie soundtrack or something. This one I was really surprised at how well the flow complimented the songs in terms of subject matter, feel, etc. Essentially a cluster of some of my favorite Who tunes. The Who - In A Hand Or A Face Pure And Easy Love Is Coming Down It's Your Turn Had Enough Trick Of The Light Slip Kid Melancholia Postcard Jaguar The Dirty Jobs I Can't Reach You I Don't Even Know Myself Sunrise Imagine A Man How Many Friends In A Hand Or A Face Why Did I Fall For That Another Tricky Day

I love this thread so many wonderful contributions. Here's one I "threw" together sometime in 2005, sourced from a crop of CDs I happened to purchase all in one go. Good job with this one. Inspired and curious track listing. all deeper cuts and why not more focus on some later 70s/80s stuff
That's one of my favorite Stones tracks too, but I included every song that ever appeared on an official best-of, single that charted, or if a video was made for it. Unfortunately, "Tops" doesn't fit in any of those categories. If it was, it'd most certainly be on there
Here is a 15-song compilation cd I put together of late-80's to mid-90's Alternative songs from the "Acid/Brit-Pop" bands that were so popular at the time. One song per group. Someone, maybe yourself, has had a comp of Louie Louie making the rounds for years. I'm sure I've had the CD-R somebody made for at least a dozen years. It and the one of various Stack O'Lees/Stagger Lees inspired me to collect up as many interesting covers as I could find for Walk Don't Run and Wolverton Mountain (which I named Mountain Of Wolvertunes). Where to next?

This is my fictional three-disc I Am the Blues: Deluxe Edition by Willie Dixon. Disc 1 is the original album of Willie Dixon performing songs he originally wrote for other musicians, with discs 2 & 3 compiling the originally released versions (Disc 2) and covers by 60s/early 70s rock bands (Disc 3). Track / Disc 2 Artist / Disc 3 Artist 1. Back Door Man / Howlin' Wolf / The Doors 2. I Can't Quit You Baby / Otis Rush / Led Zeppelin 3. The Seventh Son / Willie Mabon / Climax Blues Band 4. Spoonful / Howlin' Wolf / Cream 5. I Ain't Superstitious / Howlin' Wolf / Jeff Beck Group 6. You Shook Me / Muddy Waters / Led Zeppelin 7. (I'm Your) Hoochie Coochie Man / Muddy Waters / Steppenwolf 8. Little Red Rooster / Howlin' Wolf / The Rolling Stones 9. The Same Thing / Muddy Waters / Grateful Dead (Live in San Francisco, March 18, 1967) I picked "rock" covers that were recorded before or around the same time as the original album. I couldn't find a suitable studio cover of The Same Thing, hence the live Dead version. Disc 2 is very short (~25 mins) due to all the original versions being less than three minutes. I'm toying with the idea of adding Dixon's Built for Comfort (from Willie's Blues, 1959) and Howlin' Wolf's later version, as well as Dixon's Sittin' and Cryin' the Blues (also from Willie's Blues) and the 1958 Buddy Guy version (as Sit and Cry (the Blues)) as bonus tracks Overall I think it does a good job of highlighting the influence of Willie Dixon, who really was the blues.
