Huge fan of Richard Thompson, but I regret that the great series of albums he made from 1973 to 1981 with his ex, Linda, do not sound better. Can anyone tell me if the 2004 remastered imports are a significant improvement over the earlier (1992?) editions? The recent Walking on a Wire box set (2009) apparently has remastered tracks; I'm an old fan and not really in the market for a sampler, but the potential sound upgrade for some tracks is intriguing. Would also appreciate any other, more general takes on the Thompson catalog's sonic state. Thanks.
