I've been into 80's and 90's country since back in those days but never really ventured into Vince Gill's library. I've recently discovered, though, that he's just an amazing guitarist. I want to start getting his albums but I'm seeking guidance on which ones would suit my fancy... I'm crazy about twangy rockin' telecaster country songs but less into mellow love type songs. Can any of you recommend an album or three that lean more that way? Thanks a million.

Just read that Vince was selling off a large collection of his guitars, a few left for the pickers out there...

I think this is excellent. It was 43 new songs on 4 CD's touching on all of his roots and likes. He has a great group of people playing with him also. I think it would be worth your time. It is being sold, used, for around 7 dollars with shipping on Amazon.

Personally I found the “These Days” album a bit “meh” and forgettable.

If you like his rockin telecaster songs you’re better cherry picking them into a playlist, as his albums are invariably smothered with lush ballads. You’ll love these:

    One More Last Chance
    Feels Like Love
Don’t Let Our Love Start Slippin Away
    A Little More Love
    Next Big Thing
High Lonesome Sound (album version not the bluegrass version)

Let me know what you think!

I am a fan of Vince Gill's guitar playing. I find much of his performances {I enjoy} may happen with other artists (not an LP of his own).

For example, Vince playing a bluesy guitar solo section with Brent Mason.

The song Turn Me Loose from his RCA years and also Oklahoma Borderline are both rockers and the RCA years are an underrated part of his legacy.

I love Vince with Pure Prairie League, and this is my favorite from him solo.

When he married Amy Grant he lost it. He just didn't seem interested in making knock out music. Now he just seems like he is bored on his recordings. He hasn't interested me since "High Lonesome Sound"

The Bakersfield album is great though.

I saw him and Amy in 2015 and he is incredible live. Hearing his voice warm the Ryman was an amazing experience.
