For me it has to be original copy of the self titled Blur album from 1997 (oddly I have most of the other albums). Seen a couple on ebay over the years but boy are they pricey!!!

The debut album of Super Furry Animals, Fuzzy Logic, would be great too.

I NEVER see these in record stores, I'm based in London so maybe that's why.

    Any success stories?

I have both, they both sound better than the CDs, Blur in particular sounds fantastic. I was very lucky to be buying vinyl in the 90s. Also my Fuzzy Logic is signed. Good luck with your search, you're not having mine, sorry :)

Have you written a will? Haha.

I was a bit too young when it all came out, a first year broke student who needed to eat. My quest continues...

Based on the opinions of its quality mentioned here... and your quest in general...
I suggest that you give in and buy one of those copies of BLUR from eBay.
Maybe you could contact the seller and request a slightly lower Buy-It-Now price.
You can balance out the cost by simply skipping a few trips to the local pub. :D

One success story - I found a copy of Agnes Bernelle's first LP after looking for about 20 years

Agnes Bernelle - Bernelle On Brecht And »

It's not the money (I paid about $40), it's that reportedly about 300 were pressed and distributed exclusively in Ireland. The chances of finding one in the US were zero, I finally bought one online from Ireland but it took forever.

I've been going 40+ years looking for a copy of the first Van Der Graaf Generator record with the error pressing with Giant Squid on it. Possibles have come up occasionally online but only once that I've seen the seller actually confirmed the rare track. There were both stock and promo copies with and without it, you have to look at the deadwax to tell. Promos generally sell for over $100 as it is, sight unseen I can't do it. I'll see one someday though - I did find a stock copy without it about 15 years in, so hope springs eternal...

To me if your searching and it can be had, but for a price, then its only by your own accord that you are still searching? Its out there, but not at price your willing to pay. That's different than, I just can't find the damn thing.

Funny this thread comes up, I just found one of my hard to find albums, the multicolored vinyl of Dave Mason's Alone Together. It had eluded me for years,
the sound quality was unimportant all I wanted it for was the aesthetics. Finally found it at a Goodwill for a buck!
On to the next...maybe Buckingham Nicks?

I'm still looking for a decent Jamaican pressing of Africa Must Be Free By 1983 by Augustus Pablo. This album deserves to be heard without any distracting pops and clicks.

Full-on cabaret, straighter than the other two but I had to hear it. A CD bootleg under a different title was going around on eBay last year but seems to have dried up. I think it was called "Surabaya Johnny".

I am leaving out things I could buy but rebel at the price. There are any number of Non-US pressings that I have looked for over the years. Those from Africa are nearly impossible. I have had two successes in the past few years but which would be of limited interest on this Forum: Amalia Rodrigues No Cafe Luso, EMI Portugal and Girma Beyene - Set Alemenem, Amha Records 45 (Ethiopia).

With US pressings I have searched without luck for an Anthem of the Sun (Grateful Dead) with The Faster We Go in the deadwax.

Yes, there are legit (non-bootleg) versions on eBay or discogs. All for for obscene prices. I've never personally seen one. I'm afraid if I do I'll buy it without thinking about it.
