Just asking as I placed an order with them at the end of December and have still not heard from them or received my items. I still get email promos and some generic email reply when I send an email.

I tried their live chat earlier today, but that went nowhere either.

Anyone else having any similar issues?

:agree: Not with SSD but it took a Christmas card from Dec. 17th from Cali. until Jan. 12th to get here and a CD I bought from a reliable seller here from the UK on Dec. 15th still hasn't arrived yet. Thanks goodness paypal has the 6 month window for refunds these days.

I'm having the same problem. I ordered the day after Christmas. One item was out of stock and I called them and replaced it 2 weeks ago. They don't answer the phone they don't answer emails. I hope they're not in trouble they have $100 of my money and then some

Well, apparently they got my "live chat" message even though their chat wasn't "live". :sigh:

They said my order shipped out this morning. I think everything I ordered was on sale and should have been in stock. It's ridiculous that it takes them that long to fulfill orders. Worse yet, they don't reply to emails when you inquire about your order.

This may well be the last time I use them - plenty of other options out there.

My experience with SSD is similar -- nothing ever ships quickly, and often I learn that something is not even in stock only after I've bought it. I still buy from them on occasion as they pack well and have regular sales but I've learned never to expect anything I buy from them to arrive in a timely manner.

I'm nearing the two-week mark since placing my order for two LPs that said "available to ship in 2-4 business days." The status shows the order is "processing." I'm guessing that with Christmas and after Christmas they are simply overwhelmed, not to mention the absolutely terrible weather in the northeast part of the country these past couple of weeks. I *only* buy from SSD when they have the 20% discount, otherwise their prices are simply too high compared to Amazon and elsewhere. But with the 20%, no tax, and free shipping at $50, they even beat Amz by a couple bucks. So, patience is a virtue, I guess.... I'll send a note, or call, or whatever, come Monday if I don't see a status change. If their business is this overwhelming, they need to bloody well hire another couple or so people to do the packing & shipping.

I ordered some records from them on 1/18 and they were all listed as 3-5 days. Its now 1/28 and I still haven received any records. I checked the tracking on them and it still says "processing". They did send out an apology on recent shipping delays with a 25% off code but you only has 3 days before it expired. I'm assuming, or at least hoping I will see them next week some time. I want to be sure I get them and confirm the quality before I decide to order anything else in the future from them. I have always heard good things.

I gave up on SSD. They used to be my favorite and go to but over the last year they have gotten slower to ship, slower to deal with customer service issues and then distributing out of new warehouses a few shipments of mine showed up poorly packed and damaged. I didn't even bother with the 25% off. I sent several emails months back and they stated they had received multiple complaints about the changes and yet they still waited a few months to what is now where they seem to be trying to fix things.

I sent an email and never received a response so I finally contacted somebody through their live customer service messaging system and they told me it would be a week to ten days more before I receive my order. They said they only had 1 out of the 4 I ordered. They said they were still waiting to receive the rest of them from the plant or something. Although, they did offer to send the one but I just figure i will wait until they get them all in. As it is my first time ordering from them I guess I assumed when it said 3-5 days it meant they already had the records on stock and they just had to ship them out but apparently that’s not the case. Now I will be looking at 10-15 days before I get them hopefully. Now they are just sitting on my $79 I paid. I will see how these are when I get them but this might be my first and last order with them. Have you tried Music Direct before?

SSD is the only major music vendor I have had these kinds of issues with. Acoustic Sounds, Elusive Disc and Music Direct...no issues. I have also ordered from Deep Discount with no issues either.

Thank you all for the replies and advice. I’m going to tough it out for this order but I think I will definitely be going with another vendor for future purchases at least until they get all their issues worked out.

I've also had bad luck with Music Direct and they tend to be a bit arrogant when it comes to resolving issues. Being that they're local I would like to support them despite having to pay taxes. Believe it or not the most reliable place of late for me has been Amazon. They've had good prices on items, records have been very well packed and they actually get pre-orders to me on release day.

I've had great luck with them as well - and you're right about their pre-orders. I ordered the recent Seth MacFarlane LP which as due out on vinyl 1/26/18 and it arrive that same day. Honestly, they are my standard vendor anymore. The only time I use one of the others is if they have a very good sale going on.

I do not order from them any longer. The last album I ordered, took them 12 days to process and ship. They ignored multiple e-mails. There are now plenty of places to buy vinyl. I'm done with them.

I am very sorry to hear about this. I have not ordered from them in a long time but always had favorable experiences. However, the candid commentary here makes it a sure bet that I will not place any orders until things stabilize. I seem to recall the owner was a member here? Seemed like a decent guy - maybe he will chime in at some point.

I decided to check on my recent purchases I ordered back on January 18th. It looks like they moved to the “pending shipment” phase so hopefully that’s a step in the right direction. It’s getting pretty frustrating at this point...

Open up a chat...then they will ship your order. Mine magically shipped the same day I did that.

I ordered the VPI Cliffwood from then in November.thought it was very nice that they called me to let me know it wa coming in black and asked if I wanted to keep the order. They said they were shipping it out soon. I wasn’t too concerned when I didn’t hear anything else but then a week and a half later it showed up at my door! On their website it said it was still waiting to be shipped.

Not a huge deal I guess. I got it and it was in perfect shape. A couple of weeks ago they sent out a %25 off coupon for vinyl as an apology for shipping issues. I didn’t use it.

I was able to open up a live chat with them and they said my items were there and ready to be shipped next week. I just wish they would be honest up front instead of saying 3-5 days on them when it's going to be closer to a month. This is my first buying experience with them and I understand they are having some delivery issues right now so hopefully they will get that ironed out. I've read a lot of good reviews about the service so that's why I figured I would give them a try. Anyway, hopefully everything will show up in nice shape and they will get back on track with the deliveries and I can remain a customer.

Yes, they seem to respond and get stuff done once you get in touch with them. From now on, I will just let Amazon process my LP orders as they seem to be able to pick and pack without being asked to do so. I just unsubscribed from SSD's email list - no use being notified of things I can't get sent to me!

It looks like they're still running the 25%, a pretty solid discount. Given the issues I've been having with them I really don't have any interest at this point in going back. You shouldn't have to continually get in touch with a company to get treated right. I used to love SSD and they were always my go to so it makes me sad to see how poor they got in the last 6 months between improperly packed shipments, slow shipments, slow response to customer service inquiries and minimal interest to resolve issues beyond a "sorry, we're trying something new", ect. On that subject, I never really even had to reach out to customer service until recently either after several years of great experiences. Like I said before, Amazon has gotten good. They pack things up right and even if you aren't a prime member shipping is super quick.

Obviously there are many people here that are having issues. My issue is...they have no problem sending out email after email trying to get you to buy, but then they don't get your product out the door until you contact them and inquire about it. Then magically, it ships that day. If you can't keep up with orders, then you shouldn't be soliciting new business until you get your crap figured out. No need for me to contact anyone else there, I am done with them and moving on.
