Did anyone see Letterman last night? I did not and boy am I sorry.

This is from an E-mail that my brother just sent me.

"...With Letterman off indefinitely, I dialed up his show last night just for the heck of it. Paul Shaffer was the host, and he was quite funny in the opening monologue. He then introduced the keyboard player sitting in for him with the band: Mike Smith. He mentioned how when he was a kid, he admired the "other" band from the UK, The Dave Clark Five, and that when he watched Mike Smith play, he noticed that he stood at his keyboard rather than sit. He credited Smith with influencing him to play the same way: standing up, to this day. I've only watched the first 10 minutes, but the band had played one DC5 tune, and Smith promised Shaffer that he'd play Because, as Shaffer said it was the song with which he and his wife fell in love.

Mike Smith. The Dave Clark Five. Loved 'em when I was a kid. Loved 'em.

Darn, wish I would have seen that. I was a big DC5 fan.

Damn, I would have liked to see that. I wonder if he still has that signature voice?
