Also have this, the Japanese version, but haven't used it for a few years. I should warm it up.

I'd call that BLISSFULLY simple. :)

Sinful would be those gaudy, knob-filled plates like acne on an otherwise beautiful face. :D

Thanks for the explanation. I don't feel the need for spending another grand for a power supply for the Nait XS. I don't really think it needs it. I think Naim has beefed up their power supplies and externals are not as essential as they used to be. I also think it sounds great with Blue Jeans Cable rather than Naim cable. But what do I know. A headphone amp would be nice. But not a huge deal for me.

I agree with you as I think the argument for separate power supplies started to look a bit weak once they started pushing uke uniti and other one box kit. If you do decide to try an external power supply though you should look at Teddy Pardo's stuff. I have one and it adds a lot to the sound of my Prefix phono stage and seems to help the amp (sounded rubbish on the CD player though). They are much cheaper than the Naim power supplies.

In fact I like the look of this version more than the US version. The US one has those blue lit peak meters that look out of place.

Never owned separates but LOVE my Audio Refinement Complete. A few years ago a good friend of mine found one on the street....waiting to go in the trash(!!). He took it home...added a power supply and presto....sounded beautiful. When my old Pioneer 8500 died he let me borrow it and I fell in love. Ended up buying myself one used. The French and British get along famously in my set up :righton:

Lowly nothing. Alan Sitcom and HiFi+ magazine gave your amp's predecessor - the 650A and matching 650C CD player - an award I think. Love what Cambridge are doing these days.

Lowly nothing. Alan Sircom and HiFi+ magazine gave the 650A rich praise when it came out. Love what Cambridge are doing just now.

I hope you find one. I see the odd used one advertised in the HiFi press.

Pioneer Elite A-35r here, nothing special, but small and does the job. Not bad sounding for what it is.

I have looked for something better for when the bug hits. I like what Onkyo and Marantz has to offer, but checking out what others are posting I am unaware of.

    IMO, you would miss them.

I try not to touch them, but some recordings/ mastering sometimes need a boost. :)

  23. That's exactly how I think tone controls should be used.
