Has anyone else ever listened to the Apocalyse Now double lp soundtrack? It has more film dialogue and sound effects than music on it. Basically it recreates a sonic environment from start to finish. It's a very interesting listening experience, particularly with headphones. Even when The Doors come on, "The End" gets broken into parts as it is in the film. Can anyone else think of any soundtracks that do this type of thing? I realize that Quentin Tarantino soundtracks include dialogue, but this goes well beyond that.
Only the track "Diary of a Taxi Driver". As to soundtrack albums that replicate the feel of the movie, two that come to mind are HEAD and Natural Born Killers.
The only thing is that I'm not sure if it isn't the equivalent of putting on headphones and simply "listening" to the film on a Blu Ray. The soundtrack strikes me as something of a curiosity from a time when home media was not readily accessible. Maybe a way of remembering the film atmosphere at home after a viewing in the theatre. I will have to look into the more recent Natural Born Killers example.
