My Studer A730 has finally reached that point where it won't read a CD after seventeen years of professional use and eight at home. The transports are what cause it. It's such a nice, smooth sounding unit with great D-to-As that I'd like to bring it back to life. Does anyone know where there are still good used Phillips CDM3 transports available at reasonable prices? eBay has about one every few months but the prices have double lately.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

I needed a transport for my Opus 21 but they were asking $150 on ebay. I googled the transport and found it was also used in quite a few other units; some of them were cheap dvd players. I found one on ebay for less than $30. Bought it and pulled the drive which worked perfect.
    Worth a try.

That strategy may be more tricky for the CDM3:
