Are there fans here that (still) hate Dylan's electric period?

I'm right now revisiting the Newport Folk Festival when Dylan went electric. People booing; people wiping their hands of Dylan, "Judas!" etc. Just curious if there are fans on the board today who still feel the same way about this period?

Any fans on this board who hate, say, everything after "The Times Are A Changin".... ?

There are still people who hate anything Miles Davis did after he went electric, so I'd imagine there must be some out there who feel the same about Dylan.

I've never forgiven him. But it was all downhill after his debut anyway....

When Robert Zimmerman was five years old he once sang, "Oh, Johnny Boy." I hate everything after that.

I always thought he was a Judas for leaving Minnesota.

No wonder he is still here 55 years on.

Count me as such a fan, but he's since atoned for his musical sin with "Froggie Went A-Courtin'".

It was hard, man, to accept that. It was a serious and lamentable misstep. I still listened, but I no longer experienced the intense fervor that his music elicited prior to that. It felt phony, sort of put on and contrived. All was forgiven, however, around the time of the infamous "Soy Bomb" incident. That sort of righted the ship, in my eyes.

As much as I love his early acoustic stuff, can you seriously even imagine 50/60, however many it is, solely acoustic studio albums? Not to mention all the live/bootleg stuff? Simply too horrific to contemplate.

No. It was his electric material that got me into his acoustic folk material.

I find the period when fans passionately hated his change of musical direction fascinating. I cannot conceive a period the the present day when individuals become so emotional about their music.

Back then music was a political and personal statement. Now it's just a commodity - take it or leave it, there is plenty of other stuff out there for free if you want it.

I grew up in his "electric period" and loved it. Now, I find myself much more drawn to the earlier acoustic.

Dylans electric period have now lasted more than 50 years. Perhaps long enough not to be called a period.
Better then to talk about his folk/ acoustic period that lasted only a few year
    Or?......,,,:)

Goes to show that when it comes to sustain, electric easily beats acoustic...

Probably not here, but there are still some people that hate electric music. Most are probably in their 80s or 90s by now, so that may not be the case in 20 years.

I'm more fascinated by his initial electric period (1965-66), but I can imagine it was quite a shock for his early fans. I can't imagine anyone getting that upset about something like that nowadays, and I don't know how I feel about that
