How different sounding are they compared to US or UK releases (or for that matter, original vinyl pressings)?

Not if you are a collector. Many collectors don't even play the discs that they own.

You can name your price for this collection.

Those are perplexing results. No idea why they got bid so high - neither title is particularly rare. I don't even bother to look for Stevie Nicks targets anymore! :help:

I know it happens, but this will never cease to baffle me. I sorta get it for vinyl, since they're sort of historical artifacts, but I don't see the same thing ever applying to CD's going forward.

You might be right - CD collecting may be dead 10 years from now. Or maybe not. But I have a lot of fun chasing those rare CDs right now! :)

Iron Maiden CP32 are clones of the UK, US 1st-pressings. No worth seeking out if youre not a serious collector.

Kiss Burning Collection P33C are a different animal. Good transfer from the japanese vinyl-masters. As dynamic as the Marinos but transferred from solid tapes. Many regard these as the definitive versions. In my opinion only real competition being the newly mastered on HD-Tracks.

As long as your price is around $60 or less, at least...

You are mixing up the released 19 CD box set with the 4 CD promo. I challenge you to find the 4 CD UK promo version anywhere.

Fair point Michael. I was a CD collector even before I started collecting early pressings. And I play my discs, even rare ones like the Swans White Light from the Mouth of Infinity.

There is plenty of valuable cds out there. I'm not gonna make a list since it would be way too large and take too long to type up and it wouldn't be remotely complete anyway. Even for just one genre, say thrash metal cds for instance, the amount that are rare and valuable is staggering, since many thrash metal cds were pressed in tiny amounts. This is one of the more valuable ones, only 500 were made.

I own 2 copies of this one:

Since the OP is in Italy, here is one of the rarest Italian thrash metal cds ( I own 2 of these also):

I could go on and on...

The cool thing about CDs like those you just linked is that most people wouldn't have the first clue that they're valuable. I'd guess that if you bought those into used CD shops in the US, 99.99% of them would either pass outright, or give you a dime for those titles.

The only cd I am looking for is Paul Carracks Night Bird Cd
I won't pay hundreds of dollars for it.
I am hoping cherry red reissues it.

That Stevie Nicks target is a very rare variation. It has Polygram on the label and PDO on the hub, which has not been documented on any sites yet.

One of the rarest, most expensive CDs in my collection is the red-faced variation of the Bee Gees - Living Eyes, shown below.

Yes, I saw that, and I would perhaps have bid if the starting price wasn't $40. And my experience of Elaine Paige has taught me to wait and these variations will turn up (I recently acquired two Made in West || Germany by Polygram Cinema targets, with and without the PDO in the hub). I also picked up a Linda Ronstadt Lush Life with Made in West || Germany by Polygram. no mirror band, 03 # and PDO in the matrix. Never seen it listed anywhere. And according to some, it shouldn't exist (the Made in West || Germany version has 02 # in the matrix). It even suffered a price reduction. Excellent condition. Can't see a mark on it. I'm perplexed by it's existence.
