I think it's a tribute to Bob & a testament to the importance of these mythic recordings from Columbia that they'd even entertain releasing them to make available (after 1/2 a century) to the public - ensuring their rightful place in Rock History!

    Plus, I just pre-ordered Disk Union's limited-edition box. Nice.

Limited edition box? What is it?

It's a box set that's pressed in limited numbers, but that's not important right now. ;)

Thanks, although I am guilty of playing into a threadcrap. I just couldn't let that one go by, since it was so severely misguided.

  8. The box is 3 times the music for over6 times the price. As much as I would like the box the price difference would mean not getting the Wilco Rarities box and REMTV.
In a perfect world I would take the box but in the world of consumer decisions based around value and financial constraints it is the 2CD version for me.

    Indeed!

Although, I think it's possible that copywrite laws may have something to do with it, as well.

  13. When did Bob being "drugged out" have anything to do with anything? He does sound a bit "drugged out" on the odd basement cut actually, and all the better for it :)

Box set and the 2CD for the car and sharing with the gf

I'll be attempting to digest and curate some sort of presentation for friends and family, too (my usual holiday routine), but I may not have enough time to make it for this year - we'll see.

I'm getting the vinyl set, which includes the 2 CDs, along with the full box. 'Tis my duty as a Dylan fan.

I'll get the the box set and then make my own set of disc for ongoing listening. I assume that as this is for my own consumption, there's no legal issue with this.

Is anyone else considering purchasing the new 'Lyrics Since 1962? Price at present is around £80. If I had to choose between book or Basement Tapes Complete, I'd go for the book, it is a limited edition & I'd much rather have the hardback than any paperback release at sometime in the future.

So I'll go for the 2 cd set, Lyrics Since 62 & Sid Griffin's updated Million Dollar Bash. I'll pick up the 6 disc set in the future when the price should drop or 2nd hand copies show up.

Box set. It might be overkill for me, but the 2CD set misses too much. (Or just stamp "sucker" on my forehead.)
