It depends on my mood but I've noticed that many of my favorite songs are more on the soft, mellow and slow side.
When I was a child up until 18 I would only listen to loud and fast music (Hard Rock,Heavy Metal, etc.) and as I grew older I started to appreciate slower music much more and grew to love it.

    Before I go to sleep:

It really just depends on the mood and what I'm doing.

Do you prefer your black and white movies to be all black or all white?

I have always shunned categories and to me "uptempo" and "slow" are just another pair of meaningless attempts to herd music in arbitrary pens. Besides, time is relative, and sometimes slow becomes uptempo and uptempo slow.

Or - to put it simply - anything goes.

I like the tempo somewhere in between the two.

I would just note that slow music is not necessarily relaxing; it can be quite ominous or tense sometimes.

I voted fast and energetic most of the time.

Radio prefers the opposite as the ballad will almost always play longer than up tempo.

It depends on the genre. Nowadays everything's EDM based so it's quite the opposite.

Exactly. I like my music slow but not relaxing, but there was no option to vote for that.

In general, fast/energetic. I have a theory that one's musical tastes in this regard complement (i.e., are opposite to) one's overall personality.

It helps if it's well-produced and well-constructed (I Only Want To Be With You; Story In Your Eyes) rather than sprawling and unfocused (Shout, Anarchy in the UK / God Save the Queen). My preference however was much more the rule in the '60s; there were very few slow songs I liked back then. Everyone's Gone to the Moon was a notable exception.

If I was to try to answer, generally speaking, I'd say fast and energetic.

Somewhere in the middle. I don't like music played too fast, but on the other hand I want it to be fast enough, so I guess you could say I like music that's played half fast. :)

A good song is a good song, tempo shouldn't matter........unless you're into speed metal or turtle races.
