Four years on and no sign of Counterpoints on CD, you'd think this would be a great title for Wounded Bird to release, so until then keep on waiting!!

I am and have been an Argent fan since day one. Unfortunately, the band had a successful but limit following in the US. Russ Ballard was a key ingredient to their early sound, but once he left, they sort of let go any semblance of a pop sound in conjunction with their Prog backdrop. Counterpoints and Circus were good albums, but by then most of their audience had lost interest.

When digital replaced analog recordings, like many other groups of their ilk, their record companies sort of ignored them and released a greatest hits and maybe "Altogether Now", and that was it. Soon after Argent was "out of sight, out of mind."

It's too bad because while All Together Now has the classic "Hold Your Head Up" it's oddly probably their worst album.

Listened to my WG Line and UK BGO cd's of the debut album tonight. "Dance in the Smoke" and "Freefall" are the definite high points for me. The BGO isn't unlistenable, but the Line sure is better. The BGO has that out of control high end hiss that the Line has tamed.

What "out of control high end hiss" on the BGO [like 2nd Gen or later hiss]?
The Line still has hiss tho, right??
    BIG thanks.

Hiss like a treble boost given to bad tapes.

Why doesn't anybody mention the "Original album Classics" box set from 2009? IMHO, it has great sound!

Yeah, alright, it doesn't have "Circus"...
But soundwise, I think they're pretty good (if not the best) CD pressings of the included albums.
