For the people I love I tend to be in for the long haul. Others it's for one or two specific albums or a best of set.

    CSN (&Y) - 4-Way Street
The Who - Who Are You (actually The Kids Are Alright soundtrack from '79)
Clapton (incl all of his stuff with Yardbirds, Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek & the Dominos, solo) - Rainbow Concert (although I do like From the Cradle and Unplugged)

I haven't liked anything by Nine Inch Nails since "Year Zero". "Ghosts" was like a cross between a contractually obligated album and a glorified riff tape. "The Slip" was rightly given away free. "Hesitations Marks" is a dull one note album. "Not the Actual Events" and "Add Violence" are so tepid and uninspired I won't even mock them.

Trent and co. have been on autopilot since some time after "With Teeth". Sad considering I used to look forward to each release, and each time they would surprise me with a direction I hadn't foreseen.

I didn't ignore them, I just felt that they did not grow artistically. I heard too many recycled riffs on their later works.

Ironically the same could be said about The Who. In that case I did not hear "The Who Sell Out" and "A Quick One/Happy Jack" before "Tommy" so I enjoyed Tommy and when I finally heard their earlier works as albums I realized that they too recycled riffs. So I get it that Pink Floyd fans love their latter works. I wonder how many Floyd fans who go back to the Syd era feel about the post DSOM era works?

For me, it was Lifes Rich Pageant. For Elvis Costello, it's Imperial Bedroom.

It's not necessarily a 'cutoff', it's just that nothing after those has interested me enough.

I guess the trifecta of The Yes Album/Fragile/CTTE was enough for me.

Oh yes, there's lots. Just a few that stand out:

R.E.M. - Automatic For The People
    AC/DC - Back In Black
    Rod Stewart - Atlantic Crossing
Rolling Stones - Tattoo You (only recently broken by Blue & Lonesome, which was great)

And inversely, The Beatles - Help, and everything that followed it (with occasional wanderings into Hard Day's Night).

Archive – Noise (lost interest when Craig Walker quitted)
Can – Soon Over Babaluma (still quite a bit of good stuff after that, but it's not at the same level... everyone in Can acknowledged it, anyway)
Depeche Mode – anything live after One Night in Paris. (It's been the very same setlist over and over for 15+ years. And I'm sure Gore is the lazy one, here)
Massive Attack – Protection (lost it when Del Naja took more importance in the band... don't like their "dark" stuff)
Moby – Wait for Me (sounds like eternal B-sides after that)
Radiohead – In Rainbows (I love the simplicity of this one, but I got really, really tired of most Radiohead fans after that...)
Serge Gainsbourg – Aux armes et cætera (his lyrics were never that great, but then it just went dumb)
The Cure – Bloodflowers (very underrated, and after that I don't remember anything)
The Jesus and Mary Chain – Psychocandy (and actually I even get bored somewhere in the middle of this one, so...)
U2 – Zooropa (I basically only like some of their 90s Eno stuff)

Pretenders were weak after Pretenders II.

I gave up on U2 after "Rattle And Hum". I remember hearing the first single from "Achtung Baby" ann thinking ??????. THEN, I went out and bought the album and listened to it in one sitting after which my reaction was :yikes::yikes::yikes:. Can't listen to anything of theirs after that release.

    Hoo boy, here we go!

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper. Any explanation will inevitably lead to another thread that has been done to death (many times) before.

    Let's just say I'm a mop-topper.

A bit unfair, I dare say. I like Automatic but can fully understand why some wouldn't. It took years and years for me to finally (begrudgingly) appreciate it. The material is good yes, but the production is anemic and it was depressing at the time for fans who missed the scrappy and powerful sounding band of LRP, and (to a lesser extent) Green. REM had always had a tight and creative rhythm section but Bill's drums sounded weak and dead on Automatic. It was like the band was done even though they were on top of the world..... I remember friends who HATED R.E.M. but then I'd play them LRP and they'd freak out at how good it was and how great the album sounded and they could hardly believe it was the same band.
