I lost Wilco after Summerteeth. I gave YHF a chance - didn't get it. Gave A Ghost Is Born a chance - I didn't get it either. They lost their alt country vibe and I lost interest in them.

Cut off is difficult cause usually in my case , I've gone one to far before realizing I no longer am enjoying the artist music
With U2 I now realize Zooroopa should have been the cut off. With Bruce, Tunnel of Love, though Tracks is worthy of the older material. With Neil, it's Freedom. With Costello it's Trust. With These artists I still have bought the newer material but regret it and don't listen beyond a couple of tries.

I don't understand all these people saying that they stopped with Van Halen "after" 1984.

There was no Van Halen after 1984. Thank God they never found another singer and continued making records that dropped hot poop on their legacy. I mean, that didn't happen, right? RIGHT??!??!?!??

    ---

    Anyway.

I stopped with King Crimson after Three of a Perfect Pair. I know most people stop after Red, but I like those three WB albums, even if Fripp should have called it a different band. The stuff afterwards isn't bad, it just never meant anything to me.

Black Sabbath after the first six. Not exactly an unpopular opinion, but there it is.

    Supertramp after Hodgson left.

XTC after Nonsuch. Like King Crimson, the later stuff isn't bad, it just doesn't register.

Frank Black (and by extension the Pixies reunion) after Teenager of the Year.

    10cc after Deceptive Bends.

REM after Document. Again, nothing against the newer stuff, just didn't click.

Definitely unfair and a post I'm not proud of and posted after a few too many. I do think Automatic is their finest hour...or at least one of them.

Other than Queensryche w/Tate (Hear in the Now Frontier) and Pearl Jam (Vitalogy) I don't have any cutoffs that I can think of. When I like a band I tend to stick with them

    Automatic is their masterpiece

Spandau Ballet - True - first three albums are excellent new romantic /wave pop. Parade has some ok tunes and the singles weren't bad just bland compared to Gold / True etc

Bowie - Scary Monsters. Love the title track of Lets Dance and a few songs here and there.

For me, Crest of a Knave is the last Tull album.

    For Peter Gabriel, Us.

    Queen, A Kind of Magic.

    Judas Priest, Screaming for Vengeance.

Elton John, Songs from the West Coast.

    Springsteen, The River....

I stopped following Green Day after 21st Century Breakdown (though I bought the trilogy Uno! Dos! Trés! but never listened to it more than once or twice).

As a fan from pretty much the very beginning (bought the Chronic Town EP when it came out), I have assiduously given all of their albums a listen, but simply nothing does it for me after Automatic for the People. Moments, sure, but that's the last one I can ride with them for the full length of an album.

(NB: I ripped the Out of Time CD and reburned it sans Shiny Happy People and Radio Song with some contemporaneous b-sides substituted.)

For me it would be after Tusk. I love the Peter Green, Kirwan, Spencer, Welch years. The Nicks/Buckingham lineup was good during the Sound City years but it seems that Buckingham wanted to take things in a different direction beginning with Tusk.

They have the same name but very different bands for sure!

I hate to say it, but anything after NIN: The Fragile does nothing for me.

Elton John: Blue Moves, but then I like his recent stuff from West Coast to Diving Board.
    Beach Boys: Holland
Johnny Cash: Man In Black from 1971. Then it's a cut off, with Johnny 99, Rockabilly Blues, Is Coming to Town, and the American Recordings stuff included.

Elton John - Sleeping in the past. Not that I love everything he did up to this LP, but I completely lost interest of what he did after 1990.
