Dave Matthews - That unholy cross between a british guy and Kermit the frog that he does drives me up a wall. It's beyond affected.

John Mayer - Not feeling listening to a singer swallow his tongue but he sounds like he's doing it on most songs. The first ones that occurred to me were "No Such Thing" and "Your Body is a Wonderland."

Yeah, I hate it when Billie Joe employs that fake accent around this forum!

Bruce Springsteen. The backwoods diner prophet was raised in a NYC suburb. Never understood it.

Wow - this is news to me that Dave King is the singer in Flogging Molly! I loved the first two Fastway albums, especially the vocals. Now I'm intrigued to check out more Flogging Molly.

.......except the ones who have no accent.:)

  17. The Proclaimers were the first ones I thought of. Heck, I seem to recall that they were once criticized by other Scottish acts who thought they'd pushed their accents to the point of caricature!

Do you mean her near-complete lack of accent is her affected accent?

Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland has an overly amplified "country" accent that sounds extremely contrived to the point of being distracting. As Simon Cowell would say, it sounds very "put-on".

This one has always bothered me. When he toured down south for Tom Joad tour his accent was more exagerated than the natives.

I do not understand what you are saying about her. Is it that her english is not polished or that she still has a French accent?
She is French Canadian, started singing in french, then crossed over to english once she learned it in school (adult). Here first spoken language is French and her second is English. Bilingual. When speaking she has a french accent.
Here is some info from her on how she learned English. (Starts at the 1.25 mark)

The first two albums are the best to start with but honestly, all the Flogging Molly albums are awesome. They also put on one of the best live shows I've ever seen.

    1st album: Swagger
    2nd album: Drunk Lullabies

Ray Davies sounded English to me, a couple of years before Syd...it wasn't as obvious as "Arnold Layne", though.

Bruce Springsteen's conversational accent, at some point, suddenly started sounded like he was from rural Indiana or something!

X10 What gets me is ANYONE american can "put on" that fake country twang, its sickening as many of those country singers dont talk that way day to day, even though they pretend to even in interviews.
