How many artists have been popular when they were very young, and continued to be popular in adulthood...not many; 3 glaring examples come to mind:
    (1) Michael Jackson
    (2) Stevie Wonder
    (3) Tanya Tucker

Close, but not popular enough as Adults, IMHO: Donny & Marie Osmond
    Not sure of: Brenda Lee

For purposes of this thread, I will arbitrarily define child/very young as someone UNDER age 16, and Adult as someone OVER age 21, because there is too much gray area for those in-between:help:

Eschewing those who never made records, two spring immediately to mind:

    Shura Cherkassky

I'd say Brenda Lee does qualify, with a large and changing fan base from childhood in 1956 up into adulthood at least 'till the late 1960's, and has retained quite a following since. She's a real sweet heart of a lady, by the way. :)

There are lots of classical composers who were child prodigies, including Beethoven, Mozart, etc. And there are performers today who were performing as children and young teenagers.

Lindsay Lohan. My daughters are a big fan of hers. Started out as a Disney actress and has now a recording career as well as acting and being friends with Sean Lennon.

    This is my 1000th post!

He wasn't popular as a solo artist, but Carl Wilson was 14 years old when the Beach Boys recorded their first hit.

Indeed, Davy Jones appeared on the British soap opera Coronation Street, and as the original Artful Dodger in Oliver on Broadway (check out the episode of The Ed Sullivan Show where The Beatles debuted, he appears with the cast.) Jones was only around 18 when he auditioned for The Monkees.

Micky Dolenz starred in the 50's TV show Circus Boy, billed as "Micky Braddock" (and in fact, the original Monkees pilot bills him that way, too.). There's also an old Kellogg's Sugar Corn Pops commercial from those days floating around, too.
