It used to be Jethro Tull and The Monkees before they went overboard with super deluxe versions.

Nowadays, Steely Dan/Donald Fagen

 

It used to be Dylan, Young, any csny related, Joni, Richard Thompson, but these days narrowed down to Pat Metheny, David Crosby

 

Since I am on a fixed income, I have to say I try to buy everything by The Beatles, The Who, and Todd Rundgren.

Great question! Let me see... I almost never buy box sets, so this list refers to new albums or unreleased old albums; re-issues I usually pass on, but stuff like the new Sgt. Pepper or Pink Floyd's 2-CD The Early Years are a must.
