Artists with only one truly great song?

Or, like the Steely Dan hater on the first page, the only song by an artist that you like?

Canned Ham is another great song, IMO.

 

Oh right, didn't know that, well Black Lace aren't who I really associate with that song, I would only think The Tweets.

 

I actually think both of their albums are pretty darn good. The rest of the music has a power pop sheen to it

Good grief! Three-quarters of the songs on their LPs from 1967-72 (seven of 'em) were better than Go Now. Even the original by Bessie Banks is miles better than their cover!

 

Not obvious at all. It's a good song, but Lay Your Hands On Me tops it IMHO.

 

Have you never flipped this LP over? Four really good songs there (plus Are You Happy). Check them out!

I think Ain't Gonna Lie beats the pants off 98.6 and Attack is almost as good as Lover's Concerto (which is admittedly wonderful).

 

That would be As Strong as Samson IMHO, followed by Wreck of the Hesperus.

 

They're not terrible or anything, but none of their other songs jump out to me like "Brandy" does.

Totally transcends time, place, & genre - one of the most perfect pop tunes ever concocted
They never had any chance at matching it
