Well I just received another astral weeks lp from e-bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4873092879 It was an impulse buy, and I was kinda bummed that I bought it after reading this post from the past: "I think I can help with the questions about which version of Astral Weeks sounds best. It is one of my favorite albums, and I have bought and compared several versions over the years. Here are the ones I have, which I have rated from best to worst sounding: 1. Original US LP (WLP W7 WB) 2. US LP (Green label WB) 3. UK LP (Green Label WB) 4. UK CD 5. Simply Vinyl LP 6. US CD 7. German LP (80's reissue) The poorer sounding versions, US CD included, have a hard edge to the vocal and cymbals that make it hard for listen to. The UK CD is pretty good, but IMO the US CD needs to be redone by someone like Steve. Randy Wells" I have a WB USA re-issue-----palm trees label that I also bought from e-bay...it was advertised as a Green Label, but ended up being palm trees..Grrrrrrr! Anyway, this german pressing sounds really nice. Nice bass, quiet as a mouse. Blows away the palm trees label and the US cd that I have. I'm still on the lookout for a reasonablly priced green label, but this german pressing is A-OK. I just wanted to let others know of a different opinion from another Randy on the forum. Randy Wells, if you're around, is your german pressing the same as the one from the ebay listing? The label is here.
