Anyone have a p-mount cart on an At120? If so, what do you have the height adjustment set at?

The cartridge is a p-mount AT216EP installed with a universal mount. The factory height adjustment for the old DJ cart ATP-2XN was zero, cranked all the way clockwise. I found that the P-mount cart body has almost zero clearance at that setting and in fact has dragged on one record. Cranking the height adjustment up fixes the issue, but I'm curious to know what setting others found optimal or if they've ever even mounted a P-mount on an AT-LP120.

    Thanks

When I use a P-mount cartridge in a standard-mount adapter on my Technics 1200 I always have to raise the arm up several millimeters. A P-mount cart + adapter is pretty tall. In general, you should raise the tonearm until the top of the headshell is parallel to the record surface when playing a record.

Thanks! I would have expected an exact measurement from an OCDman. ;)

    AT92ecd-

5 on the dial and a plastic shim made up with a thin strip of gift card in front of p-mount bracket creating an angle.

Tested with a warped record, no scraping

Plenty of clearance there. I didn't spot the credit card, did you capture that in the video or no?
I finally gave up on my P-mount even though its a very good cartridge and stylus. I had cranked up the height adjustment and at every setting the clearance was too small. At times, I didn't even know it was a problem until I was listening with headphones.

Thin strip right in front of the mounting screws.

I'm using this cartridge for older/worn records.

I have the AT-440MLb on arrival for everything else.

I was going to rewatch the video to look closer but it says it was removed.

Must have been because of the music in the video, but it was just a small thin piece of card wedged between the headshell and the mount. Basically you want to tip the cartridge making the tail higher. No Lowriders.

Ok, gotcha. I might try that.
