Exciting news. I believe the old Sacd was a 2 Channel single Sacd version. Could this be stereo and Quad? :sigh: We can always dream.... Anyway it will be snatched and abused by my Oppo 105.

Hi Myke. Love your new avatar. Is it Warren introducing the new Rythm guitar player in Gov't Mule....

I hope Steve can bring some life into the sound of this overly slick production :)

Would love for AF to do the first 3 albums, especially Sweetnighter.

Good to see more Weather Report reissues - personally I'm happy with the Columbia SACD but I suppose that's out of print now.

Interesting. This album has been available as a DSD download for a while from Acoustic Sounds and HDTracks too.

Yes! I haven't bought any Audio Fidelity discs in months but this is up my alley, I was hoping for more jazz fusion and specifically Weather Report. I would have preferred Black Market as it's my favorite album of theirs, or even Mysterious Traveler, but will definitely be purchasing this. For Heavy Weather I own both the original Columbia CD and the remaster and they both sound way too bright and thin to me so I can't wait for Steve to get his hands on it.

I own all of the Weather Report albums on CD and your post describes most of them! The only album I think sounds truly good, other than the Audio Fidelity release, is Sportin' Life. I have owned original Columbia releases and remasters for most of the albums and I find most of them sound bright and thin.

The way they were mastered, sadly.

I never get sick of "Birdland".

Just one of those songs... can't seem to get sick of hearing it.

I'm not a jazz guy at all. I only started this thread because Chris Brown sent me the link, and I knew others would care, but I gotta say, I listened to most of the album via Amazon ( Prime / Free ) yesterday, and I liked it. I may buy one myself ?

I agree about Black Market. My favorite Weather Report album and one of my favorites in any genre. Cannonball is an amazing track especially as it was Jacos first recording with the band and I believe I read it was done in one take! I have the original Columbia CD and the remaster and in a side by side comparison I preferred the original mastering. They are both bright but the original Columbia is the lesser of two evils. I really hope Audio Fidelity can do Black Market after Heavy Weather. Then bring on Mysterious Traveller!
