No new announcement since a few months
I was thinking about it too. What's going on really? Is the label dead?
It's summer time so maybe they are taking it easy for awhile.
A new project would be great to create some buzz..
Oh cmon...don't be so dramatic. I'm sure we'll see something soon.
No. Steve recently said that things may go quiet for a while until they'd sorted everything out before announcing releases in future after the Bad Company Gold CD issues. He also said they had several irons in the fire. Don't panic!!!
In other words, they don't want to announce a title, then wait a year or more before they find the master tapes!
Would love to see more titles out there.
What's up with S&P? It's real quiet over there.
AF is probably still running very strong from the Bad Company S/T release. Man I love that gold CD: great work as usual!
They're not going to be working with SACDs any more.
REMINDER! AF still has a couple of copies of "Jimmy Reed at Carnegie Hall" at $17.98 in stock, but that won't last long. Tell Beverly "Jerry sent you!"
Thanks Jerry, I ordered mine
I called a couple of times and no one answered. Probably it's just my poor timing ... Well, I'll try again today.
Ashleee, AF is in California, so keep the time difference in mind when calling. Usually no one answers around lunchtime, since it's a VERY small business. Beverly and Marshall will answer emails if you can't get through by phone, so keep trying! The Jimmy Reed cd is only $17.98 plus $3 shipping, while they last.
I wonder if it is because of licensing fees or isn't there enough demand for the format?
Anyway, as much as I like SACD, I'm not too worried about AF not releasing them anymore. Their regular CDs sound better than most SACDs do.
Steve has said here on a number of occasions that the main issues were licensing and the fact that the majors didn't want to let AF do high resolution because they want to do it themselves (when is anybody's guess).
I am going to guess Straight Shooter from Bad Co next....just a hunch
Just ordered a copy from Beverly. Thanks for the heads up Jerry and I said hi for you.
I see they have a new Playboy after dark DVD set announced, so they're still putting out product ... Oh, you mean product mastered by Steve Hoffman! ... Beats me. Looking forward to the next gold CDs, though, whatever they are. Hope the Bad Company sales are strong and help bankroll the next set of remasters.
I keep hoping we will hear something soon. I wouldnt mind just knowing when the next disc will be out, evn if I dont find out what it is going to be.
It seems like audiophile gold CDs are a lost art form...
My pleasure! You're gonna love it! It's one of those discs that sound BETTER than you expected. Great job of remastering, whoever did it.
How about some Playboy After Dark DVDs? http://www.audiofidelity.net/pc-dvd-playboy.html
I hope you're right! I love that album as much as the first one.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say "Fireball" will be the next "Gold" release from AF.
Hmmm... Something other than Bad Co. might be nice... expand the catalog a little beyond Paul Rodgers fans, eh?
Ok, if we're gunna stick with the WB catalogue how about "Killer" . . . I for one wouldn't mind that album getting the AF Gold treatment.
