SPIRIT IN THE SKY is so great, the master tape is amazing, very layered. It can now be cranked. You'll like it.

Are these two productions going to be available as DSD digital downloads as well?

I have NO idea, doubt it but it's not up to me or Audio Fidelity, it would be a Time-Life decision..

Looking forward to both of these. I'm in.

On a side note, these comps are great for drummers to learn/practice differing beats and parts.
(Would love to see AF do the Time Life Singer/Songwriter 2 fer comps, although the mastering is pretty decent on those, at least to me.)

No need to apologize. The music biz has thrived for so long with loyal consumers blindly accepting whatever they get and never asking questions (or at least never getting honest, complete answers). If ain't broke....

I wonder how they made that distinction. Really, what difference does it make?

First rule of business: Don't compete against yourself.

So obviously the record companies for those two feel there is something out there today or coming tomorrow that these SACDs could impact sales wise.

I get that, so if these were strictly mail order, they would still be competing against themselves.

Maybe they felt mail order sales were not large enough to care about? Just a guess...who knows what the genius class that own record labels are thinking

Let me guess. The people who own the rights to the music/recordings that were to be used for this comp?

I'm guessing as to the why, but probably because more of the buying market would prefer the album versions. I'm sure AF knows their customers. And I'm glad they are using the full versions. Nothing rankles like listening to a song you like and then finding parts chopped out. With some very rare exceptions, I'd always want the full length album tracks. If the 45 verson is an entirely different recording or mix, that's one thing, but most of the time, its just a butchered compromised for time version of the whole. And those bite.

Thanks for the info. I agree also. There are some cool 45 mixes that sound different than the LP versions that Time Life has used on comps in the past. Looking forward to buying these two.

Why would you make a comment like that and then not explain it? If we're wrong then how about you educate us so us dudes get it?

Do you have a "Adventures In Mastering" for these discs for us?

Any chance of getting these comps out on 45 rpm wax also? Nice tracklist and I think well mastered vinyl comps would be neat, particularly of older "single only" type pop/rock hits.

Not unless Time-Life OK's it. This is their show. They are watching carefully to see how this goes..

Probably the best answer you can get. :shh: The artist for whatever reason turned it down.

This is fantastic - the tracklisting is amazing (is it the single version of "Lola" or album version? Who cares - it's going to sound awesome, or as awesome as those tapes can sound).

Everyone please buys these so Time-Life gives the go-ahead for more!

Buying these the second they are out at CD Trader in SoCal which always has the new Audio Fidelity discs brand new day and date. I've been there the day after an AF release came out and they said they already sold out. So these comps should do great - I hope!

    I know I'll be loving these - can't wait.
