Kenji Siratori - Monster's Device 58 minutes of glitchy, noise collage insanity!!! Here is a very brief snippet:
I listened to Julius Sartorius - Zatter for the first time today and it's now one of my favorite releases from last year. Solo percussion but a lot of it is not typical percussion as you can see from the first video linked below. While listening to it, I had no idea how he was making the sounds. Even watching the video, I have no idea how he's doing it or what those things are. The second video is a little more typical percussion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVLNRLnqTI8 For those who use Spotify, the album is there https://play.spotify.com/album/36nsS6Wa3zMOsHSHUn4CXA
They look like batteries to me. I assume there are speakers underneath that he is playing prerecorded sound from.
Classic. Saw these guys tour this in the back room of a 'vintage' mid-century modern/kitsch store. Perfect. Edit: Saw them when they toured this, not that: hated, beloived. What's the difference eh?
Did anybody else catch the Anthony Braxton performance that was streamed live from the Sons d'Hiver Festival in France? I thought it was incredible. now playing..
sadly I don't think so. I found out late yesterday morning when the Tricentric Foundation posted about it on Facebook.
Scott Walker + SunnO))) - Soused Well, this sounds pretty much like I expected it would.... Scott's avant vocals/lyrics combined with SunnO)))'s crushing riffage. The big surprise for me was the inclusion of "Lullaby" which Scott gave to Ute Lemper for a covers album years ago. While this version is great I still prefer Lemper's gorgeous original. In fact, this album has inspired me to dig out Five Easy Pieces and play her two tracks again. I think "Scope J" might be one of Scott's greatest songs.
I sooooooo dig Lotus Eaters. Definitely one of O'Malley's most overlooked groups... and what a fantastic lineup with Tuner and Plotkin!!!

I never heard of Scott Walker before this came out. I listened to this a couple of times. I can't get into his singing.
Well, he's obviously not for you, you philistine! Have you heard any songs from the Walker Brothers? His style of singing was pretty different back then. "Mrs. Murphy" is my personal favorite although "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" and "After The Lights Go Out" are fantastic too.
And then there are his AWESOME 60s solo albums. I absolutely love ALL of it but here's one of my favorites.
Ehh, doesn't do much for me. I read where they were signed to Nik Bärtsch's label which totally makes sense. Very minimalist with an Ronin-type groove. I dig.
