Thanks for that. Sadly I don't do Vinyl either, so I guess I have to miss out. Glad to hear it's good though!
Great lp ain't it? Waiting for my vinyl reissue to come in. Almost sprung for an original for $100 the other day but have to draw the line somewhere.
Paul Schutze and Phantom City - Site Anubis. With Bill Laswell, Raoul Bjorkenheim, Lol Coxhill, Alex Buess, Dirk Wachtelaer, Julian Priester.
It's super pricey, but La Monte Young's The Well-Tuned Piano in The Magenta Lights DVD is back in print (like halfway down the page): Mela Foundation Store Feel like it was quite a bit more than this to pick up a prior copy 2nd hand though...
Ah, but a second hand copy would more likely be a first edition. I just checked; these new ones are clearly marked "third edition" and come in an entirely different packaging than the original.
I checked the new edition, and honestly I don't care what edition it is. That said, the price of the new edition is a bit over the top, imo. You'd think $50 would be more than enough.
Jason Lescalleet - Songs About Nothing Disc 1 - 12 short pieces totalling ~ 40 minutes Disc 2 is the continuous piece / I’ll get to that later I’ve enjoyed this release since I got it but this AM it made a very strong impact for whatever reason Incredibly creative dynamic electronic castle building On Erstwhile Records (I think it’s OOP) Reminds me of when I saw him solo at The Stone maybe in 2012 or so. Loudest set of music maybe ever but it was clear and mind blowing.
Boy this is good. Really good. I am reminded of David Lang's The Passing Measures - which if you don't know, should check out: Both these pieces could loosely be described as drones - but they're very detailed, and aren't drones, more continuous music. The mood is melancholy. Both sooooo good.
Café Oto 30th July 2018 Ute Kanngiesser (cello), Steve Noble (drums) & John Tilbury (piano) Only a single set of about an hour but a quite beautiful piece of improvised music rom three great musicians. Noble is a regular around the London scene but I haven't caught John Tilbury for a while and the cellist is new to me.
Discovered this thread recently and have been plowing through all 82 pages... Discovered some great things. Enjoying this album a lot recently: Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Ensemble Dreams (Tzadik, 2002)
