Does anyone else think Axl Rose was/is the last rockstar in the Jagger, Robert Plant, Steven Tyler vein.

Nah. Chronologically Kurt Cobain came after Axl. He's obviously not around anymore but Axl's not in the best shape these days.

Kurt wasn't a rockstar though. Not in the sense I mean - a showman, a performer, etc. He was a rockstar in terms of his success. But a rockstar is the opposite of what he was.

    Axl - no.
    Kid Rock - yes.

Dave Grohl doesn't have that frenetic excitement/joy/wild man factor that Morrison, Jagger, Plant, and Rose had. He's a safe guy.

Ok, feel free to shoot down all submissions if they don't meet your agenda.

For the record, you gave no criteria to go by in your first post, so it's your own fault if it's hit & miss.

No. Not remotely. Plus he, like so many latter era rock stars appeared then disappeared in a relative flash. Garth Brooks was both more popular and visible longer than Axl. And might as well be called rock given the sound of that sort of 'country.'

A powerful showman with a firey, interesting personality; larger than life; bombastic, if not pompous; self-indulgent.

Bono. C'mon, he's worn sunglasses for the last 25 years.

  17. Jack White is the rock star du jour - he's got the look, the fame, cultivates a mystique, and most importantly, rocks.

Judging by the photo, the only accolade he'll get is the "dumbest hillbilly rockstar to hang out at buffet's a bit too much." :):yikes:

Liam Gallagher....I dislike much about Oasis but they had all the swagger and Liam exudes that rock star aura.

  24. Slash is more of a rock star than Axl. Which perhaps is part of why Axl hates him so much.
