I've heard good things about this "heist" film. Some directing that's a pleasant turn from the summer films heavy w/ CGI. Anybody seen it? Recommended? Weigh in here.

I saw it last night and loved it! It's a genre film, true, but beautifully done. It also has the best soundtrack of any film in decades. I loved the soundtrack of "Guardians of the Galaxy", but it wasn't deeply tracks like this one.

I saw it last week. Awesome movie! It's basically nonstop music for the first 75% of it too. I was going to make a thread about it, but never did.
As Chris said, the soundtrack is amazing. I had to buy it. A lot of old, deep, R&B with some Jazz and Rock thrown in.

IMO, it's style over substance, but the style is pretty awesome so I definitely recommend it.

Lots of fun, and they paid attention to certain threads when constructing it to make sure it's more than just "Fast and Furious" set to a retro soundtrack.

Me,too.l.! Saw it today. Even "Hocus Pocus"(the LP version, sort of) by Focus was on the sondtrack..and given the title, as expected, Simon/Garfunkel's song of the same title as the movie is heard (starting in the end credits).

Saw it last night. Not a perfect movie, but a killer soundtrack and some really great scenes make it a must-see. Saw it at one of the Alamo Drafthouse theatres, which had the perfect vibe for the film. Rather than showing ads before the movie, there was a "greatest car chase movies" short, which featured footage from the likes of Bullitt and The French Connection. Did other theatres show this as well?

I really not that big on 'car' movies, but, I think Edgar's awesome...
I hope this proves successful for him!

Not as good as Sean Of The Dead.
    Didn't like the soundtrack.
    Car chases were the star.
    A good 7/10 movie.

Saw it last night. Upon seeing a few ads for it it looked like a typical action/heist movie that had a bit of quirkiness to it, didn't really interest me but my cousin persuaded me to go. I'm glad I did because it was fantastic. Yes it's an action movie with a lost of Fast And Furious esque driving scenes but this movie excelled by brilliant use of editing, cinematography, acting and of course the music. The scene against a manic John Hamm towards the end of the movie with the red lights flashing and Brighton Rock playing in the background was cool. A lot of great plot devices too. Interesting how Baby needs to have his earbuds in at all times. Also, in a lot of these movies they use romance just to have romance in the movie, but this one has a pretty fascinating love story. This should be the movie of the summer.

I assume Edgar NEEDED something to keep him 'in the game', if you know what I mean...
His best work is yet to be made!

I wasn't going to see this until I learned that it was Edgar Wright. I'll probably see it tomorrow.

Let us know what you thought....
I mean... it IS rated-R... it's GOT to have SOME bit of 'Wright-ness' to it!

    Love it!
    Love "Spaced", too.....
There's been rumors that, in the future, he might be given some sort of "Star Wars".... something!
    Hope it's true.....
While I was not all that impressed with "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World", I know it's now a bit of a cult fave.
I feared he would be put in that Kevin Smith-class of film-makers... he's better than that!
He has the potential to be.... well, up there with the big boys!

    Loved it.

Somehow, a lot of the action was choreographed to the music, which was totally amazing.

I have never seen anything quite like Baby Driver before.

    Highly recommended!

I just watched that, thanks. One thing he points out is that a lot of the soundtrack is the original songs that have been extensively sampled.
